Trying out my new EU 1000 that will go on the 1989 22 Cruiser that I am restoring.

Frigidaire 5000 Btu Small window unit, Works fine, starts AC and restarts it when the thermostat cycles on and off, even in eco-throttle mode.

GE small microwave with turntable, Tag says 950 watts, Will run it in eco-throttle, but the generator revs up and works hard. The generator works much harder than running the AC.

220v 1500 watt water heater element, I read some where that you can use a 220v element on 120 volts and it will work fine just use half the power and put out half the heat. I confirmed this. The EU 1000 powers the heating element just fine on eco-throttle just slightly revving the engine. Heated 1 gallon of water to shower temp in 5 minutes.
(I have an idea for a portable shower unit using a small igloo ice chest and a small 12volt pressure pump) I will report when I get it built and let everyone know how it works.

The stripped boat is at the dealer getting the new motor installed.
(90hp Mercury Optimax). All the cushions are at the upholstery shop getting recovered. Everything else stripped from the boat has been cleaned, polished, restored, refinished or replaced and is sitting here in my shop waiting for the return of the boat from the dealer. It is sitting on the original EZ loader trailer that I modified to bunks and did a ground up restoration including new springs, bearings, seals, tires, winch, Led lights and a new spare with a complete spare hub with bearings.

We hope to make the Guttenberg gathering, and go from Guttenberg to the Lake Powell gathering.

Sounds great! AND very interesting! Will be waiting for a full report!

Did you document your work - and "before" and "after", as well, with photos?

We have a 1000 and would love to have heated water with the generator on our 25. Is your heater similar to the 6gal model on the 25? Could I change out my element for a 220 and get the same result. Don't tease me now......

You will have to provide more info. I have no idea what type of water heater is on a 25. Most water heater elements are interchangeable. If the 25 has an electric heater, the 220v 1500w element that I am using may work. Most water heaters are 220v and you may have to change some internal wiring if yours is not already 120v. If it is already 120v it is probably a 1500-2000 watt 120v element. I have no idea if it would trip the overload on the eu1000 or if it would just take longer to heat the water.
All I know for sure right now is that the 1500w 220v element seems to draw only 750 watts at 120volts, the eu1000 powers it with no problems, and the water gets hot.

And when you get time to give us all the details please talk a little about refurbishing the trailer. I have that chore ahead of me and would be interested in hearing what you found and what you had to do. PM me if it would be easier for you.

Greg, if they used the same one as on the TC255, it's made by SEAWARD. Since my CAT is an early 2006 and your 25 is a 2005, in all liklihood, they are the same. Mine is a 6 Gal model, not exactly like the pictures here but I bet the elements are still the same.

Yep, its the S700 6 gallon model with a 1500 watt 110v element. So if i can order a 220 element for this model it will only use about 750watts with a 110 feed?

That's what I'm thinking. Your heating time will double.

The element that I found has the round screw in fitting. There is an adapter available if your water heater uses the square mount for the element.

You then have to convert the connection from 240 to 120 v. I am not sure how this will affect the operation of the thermostat.

The portable one I am building in an Igloo ice chest will use the stick your finger in the water and unplug it when it is hot enough for a shower thermostat. I guess you could say that mine will have a true digital thermostat.
