Detail Photos Unavailable In Library Technical Forum?

I can't seem to get into the Detail Photos section on any of the topics in the Technical Section of the Library...keep getting message that the site is unavailable............anyone else experiencing this?

Weird. Bill must've busted it.

I cannot get there by clicking the links on the Forum Idex page, but can view any of the albums by going through the Gallery.

I managed to get the photo of your rod/reel storage box from your 22 through the Gallery!

This issue of not being able to get into the various photo sections of the Technical Section of the Library except roundabout through the Photo Gallery is still happening.

I'm concerned that less frequent users cannot access these photos, since they do not know the route around and through the Gallery to them.

Maybe it could be corrected next week if time allows.

I can't even get to photos in the gallery by searching for the boat name! One has to wade thru all the pages and then click on the desired album.

This is a kludge but it works -- go to message search and enter the screen name of the boat you want. Find any message by that individual (helps to pick small threads!). Click on the link to their photo album.

Yup, the photo gallery search feature stinks. Add to that, it's a huge resource hog...a handful of folks can easily bring the site to a crawl if they all use it at once. I really should disable it completely, but it's somewhat of a hidden feature (perhaps until now), and most folks don't use it.

Unfortunately, as I've mentioned a few times, there is nothing I can realistically do about the photo gallery software used here. It's old, a bit buggy, and the integration with the rest of the site is somewhat of a kludge.

I'm still looking into alternatives for a complete site redesign, but it's a slow process, made worse by my lack of free time. When/if such a redesign happens, a more integrated photo gallery will be included.

I know it's hard when your time is so limited!

In searching for an entirely new site format/system, it would be great if one could be found with a really good Search function. Perhaps if new folks could find information better, there wouldn't be so many repetitive questions, although they're OK, too.
