Harstine Island, sometimes called Harstene Island in the southern Puget Sound, the home of Jerrell Cove...I'm hoping someone can enlighten me about this island and community.

I've been trying to sell some property for years now, and recently I was offered an exchange of my property for a house in the Harstene Point Community.

Island life excites me, but I have no knowledge of Harstine Island, WA. I had to look it up in Google. I know that Jerrell Cove is on the island and that some of the homes have assigned docks, but other than that I'm clueless. I believe this house is landlocked with an assigned 20' slip.

This would be either a second home for me, a rental, or on the market immediately.

Any insight you could provide would be most appreciated.

It would probably be best if you PMed me with a reply unless you want to share a great comment with everyone. :-)

thanks in advance,

Sarge, Roger is correct in that Jim is the guy to ask about the community. If you use google earth or another aerial view of the north end of the island where the community is located, you don't see many homes. I think that there are over 400 houses there, but the community was well thought out and most of the trees were left in place. The majority of the houses are built on lots that are round with the area surrounding these 80 and 90 foot lots common land. There are walking trails, lots of beach access and picnic areas. I have known a number of folks that live or have lived there, and I have always been very impressed with the park like and friendly community. On the down side, and the reason my husband and I didn't move there, is that it is too isolated for us. But, that is why so many people like the area.

I am hoping there is more discussion on here for us to read about the island. I am curious. We are planning on moving north next year and were considering areas and this satisfies the major requirement, water.
