C-Dory vs Express Cruiser

Hi,

I am new to this boating stuff. I am interested in a trailerable small cruiser. I have been to about 10 boatshows the last 3 years and find that the 24-26 foot express cruisers look very comfortable for weekend cruising. What would be the pros and cons in deciding to get an Express Cruiser over a boat like the C-Dory 25? Thanks

I have a 22 foot cruiser which we just love for family cruising and fishing. I don't know anything about the 25 footer but I'm sure you will hear from those who do. Good luck and welcome.
 
One BIG plus for the C-Dory 22 is the economy. You will spend twice the money on fuel in an express cruiser then you would with a C-Dory. The C-Dory is also easier to trailer.
 
"Express Cruiser" really doesn't define a boat. You talking about a Bayliner or something with a flying bridge?

We're at the bottom end of the C-Dory line, but made the jump from a 28' sailboat this spring. Have yet to sleep on board yet, but the boat has done everything expected of her. If my family continues to participate in boating we'll get something larger.

The utility nature of the C-Dory first attacted me to the line. No fur linings, no wine glass racks. Another atttaction was good, 4 cycle outboard power. It's great to check the engine standing in my driveway rather than heels up in the engine comparement.

Towing a 22 Cruiser or larger requires a good tow vehicle. Got one?

Thanks for the link to the article. Sounds like the 25 footer is a great boat. Now I just have to talk my wife into letting me get one. :wink:

The 25 is a beautiful boat for sure. There are pros and cons to the 22 vs 25. Cost is number 1 for sure. If you can swing it you and your wife ought to come up to the Seattle Boat Show and see them there. Not only do you have the factory guys there, but you will have in person contact with a bunch of C-Dory owners that have all sizes of C-Dorys including 25's. We would be glad to see you there. It looks like it will be a real great time !!!
