It seems like there is a flurry of interest in CD16s lately. Congrats to dotnmarty on their new boat -- we were coinsidering a trip to Portland to see her. We saw the 16 cruiser in Seattle. The commercial OMC is a detuned 60HP according to Chuck (the owner.) We are looking for a 16 also, and uncertain about 16A vs. 16C. Jane wants the 16A cockpit size for the dogs and chairs, while I like the overnighting possibilities of the berth in a 16C.
I have a question about the cabin floor in a 16. In the cockpit, you stand on the hull interior. In the cabin, the floor is raised above the hull to give a flat platform for the seats. We looked at a 16A in Tacoma, in which the seat platform had a drain plug in the rear. When I removed the plug, about a half cup of milky water ran out.
I've searched the forums, but have not found answers to my questions.
a) Where could the water come from? Does the cuddy floor drain under the cabin floor?
b) Is the cabin floor straight fibreglass or plywood?? If it is plywood, is it encapsulated in fibreglass? Has anyone had a cabin floor go soft from rot?
Considering a return to the C-Doryverse, I hope some one can give us advice.
Thanks,
Rod and Jane
