C-80 to VHF link

Can anyone shed any light on how to make this connection. I have a Ray54 VHF and a C-80. Do I need a separate cord to make the connection, or should everything be in the box, and I'm just missing how to do it?

I guess, what I really mean, is does the vhf just get the signal from the GPS antenna, or does it somehow run through the C-80?

I don't know. It just has a 5 pin round connector off of the back.

The line into the C-80 has 8 I think.

I don't remember raymarine sending me another cable.
 
I don't have Raymarine equipment on board, but out of curiosity, checked their web site for conenction info. I couldn't tell if the VHF has the ability to output information to the plotter. If the VHF NEMA cable has Out + and Out - wires, the capability probably exists. Your basic connection ( plotter sends position info to the vhf) looks to be as follows:

Using the supplied NEMA connection cables for each unit, connect the VHF NEMA In + (yellow) to the C-80’s NEMA Out + (yellow) , and the VHF NEMA In – (green) to the C-80’s NEMA Out – (brown).

You can use butt crimp connectors, but a rib insulator independent connector (2 circuit version, WM #335920 for about $3), with spade crimp connectors, makes a much cleaner installation. If you think you might want to have the VHF talk to the C-80, use a four circuit version of the rib insulator.

I ended up calling Raymarine techline. They were great. I thought that the VHF had to hook up to the GPS antenna and then the antenna into the seatalk line into the C-80.

I was wrong. The C-80 came with a NMEA line that the VHF gets connected to. 2 crimps of the + and - lines out of the VHF and I was ready to go!!!
