Building SEEKER

Checking out some Marinaut 251 web sites I found this very interesting one

http://www.tolandmarine.com/album_1.html

It shows the very first Marinaut 215 being built in Olympia. I think the person building the boat must be Ben Toland with his son helping in some of the photos. The amount of work that goes into this process is truly astonishing! These guys are absolutely master craftsmen.

Does anyone have anything to add to this story? If so I'd love to hear from you.

Gary,

That website was put up by Dave "Old Growth" Johnson. He is the one Ben was helping to add "2 feet to my 16" and the text copy and photos are from Dave. There was a ton of C-Brat input into that design process, but Dave and Ben were the "do ers".

Lots of stuff on the C-BRATS site you will find with some digging. Dave is still around and occasionally check in.

I have such respect for anyone skilled enough and patient enough to build a boat: dinghy sized on up. As for manufacturers, this illustrates the massive amounts of man-hours and materials that go into a new design, even before the first production run.
