Board Email Configuration Changed

In order to protect C-Brat members from unscrupulous email harvesters (those dreaded spammers), I've made a change to the default email behavior here.

Previously, when clicking the "email" button (visible when looking at a user's profile, or when viewing one of their posts), your default mail program would pop up with the person's email address in the "To" field, you typed your note, and hit send. The problem with this configuration - the person's email address to whom you are sending your message is in the "code" of the web page, and is easily harvested by automated SPAM robots - sounds like something out of Terminator IV, but trust me - they're real... :D

Instead, now when you click on the "email" button, you will be taken to a web page where you can compose your message to the C-Brat member, and hit send from there. When you use this method, your message is sent to the email address the C-Brat registered with, with your return address as listed in the profile you created when you signed up.

Sounds complex, but the short of it is - the spammers can't get your email address from here, but your fellow C-Brat's will have no problem contacting you privately.

Excellent. An added benefit is the ability to email members from computers other than your own, when you don't have access to your own mail program. Like us guys who aren't supposed to be doing this kind of stuff at work.

DaNag, I'm not sure how you can afford that new boat. With all the work on this site you CAN'T have a REAL job. Must work with TyBoo or something.
