Bilge Pump Cavitation

I am wondering if I am the only one who has a problem with the bilge pump sometimes cavitating and barely pumping at all. Sometimes it runs and runs with just a dribble coming out. I can lift the bump out of its cage which shuts it off and replace it. When it comes back on again it works ok.

Im wondering if it gets airlocked or something. Needless to say it can be a real problem if it happens at the wrong time.

Similar thing happens to me.

Every now and again, I manually trigger the float, hold it in the water that has accumulated in the bilge area until it primes and starts pumping again.

I believe that others have experienced what I have.

Every once in awhile I have to dig the leaf stem, dog hair, fishing line, rock etc out of mine. It works fine until next time!! :mrgreen: :beer
