Hey Greg!
Yup, it seems like there are a lot of boats being converted over from inboards with outdrives/stern drives/ I/0's to large bracketed outboards.
This is probably because of
1. the problematic nature of I/O's (the outdrive unit).
2. the cost of repair or replacement of the units.
3. really large and reliable outboards were not available as an alternative at the time the I/O's were installed, but are a very viable choice now.
4. such a conversion frees up a lot of internal cockpit space for other uses.
5. such a conversion gives a whole new life to a classic quality hull design to be "renewed" for a second life. (Do they have such a system for people? I could use a new engine, set of batteries, and a recharge!!!)
Have a great weekend! Joe.
