Bellingham 4th of July mini-mini gathering

The Admiral has expressed a desire to watch the July 4th fireworks in Bellingham from our boat. Can anyone suggest a marina or other locale where we can tie up, watch the fireworks, and spend the night?

Anyone interested in joining us?

Warren, I was not aware there is some special fireworks show in Bellingham - maybe Ruth and Joe can answer you directly. I have spent a lot of Fourths of July at Birch Bay, though, and thought it would be pretty cool to be anchored out there. This is not an organized show, but it goes on and on...people must be spending thousands and thousands. As good as a lot of organized fireworks show, and it lasts for hours instead of 15 minutes! Only caveat, I would want to be anchored out far enough to insure I was a spectator instead of a target!

From what I understand, the Haggen family/stores have for years sponsored a big July 4th celebration in Bellingham. We read about it in the paper, but that is all I know. Thanks for the tip on Birch Bay. We might do that instead.

Yes, Bellingham has a HUGE fireworks display July 4th. Haven't seen an announcement in the newspaper pertaining to the time but it's usually been about 10-10:30ish.

We've always watched it from our house so can't give any particulars about dock space at the marina or anchoring out in the harbor.

The Port of B'Ham has at least 3 visitors docks. They don't do individual boat reservations so it's first come, first served. They will make sure that you will get a space somewhere in the marina if the visitor docks are full.

The Harbor Master's phone is 360-676-2542. They monitor Channel 16.
