Balsa Core Failure and Restoration

Our 2004 C-D 25 (Sans Souci) sustained outer hull bottom collapse. Survey indicated balsa saturation 80% of bottom and soft areas in cabin floor and dock-pit deck. Restoration required replacement of all core material below waterline as well as cabin floor and cock-pit deck with solid, high density,closed-cell foam. Yes, it can be done, and was perfectly accomplished by Barker's Island Marina repair facility, Superior, Wisconsin. Not cheap, but better than new.

Sorry to hear about the problems on your boat. Glad also that the repair is complete and you can once again enjoy the boat.

I have a 22 cruiser, and I have often wondered about the construction of the 25s. Do you know the root cause of the problem?

Thanks
