Launched out of Monterey yesterday ran 50 plus NW to 36.52 to 122.50 and trolled north west had to stop fishing in a couple of hours because I could not fit anymore fish in the boat. Was looking for a go home fish and hooked a quad. I was beat up. If I had room I would get a deck hand.Biggest fish was 26.3# with a few others close to that. Sixpak, C Dory 16

Way to go Jack.

Been watching the reports and all we're getting down here are "peanuts" around 10lbs. Not big enough for me to get beat-up for. Weather a bit touchy right now. Hoping for a good showing of the bigger ones and a weather window to go.

Fishing has been great when we can get out up here.
My pantry is looking good. The last trip on Sea Lion we had 26 fish that totaled near 900#. We had 3 fish over #40. Good times.

Ray,

They've been passing us by the past 4~5 years on their way north. We used to go out and get them up to 50lbs, with an average of 30lbs each. Hope the tides change back and bring them to us.

Man, I miss Albacore fishing out of Santa Cruz and San Diego . I certainly cant complain about the fishing here in the Panhandle of FL, but there was something about being out 50 miles and seeing all sorts of whales and mola molas and such and coming home and cleaning tuna till midnight after a good trip then smoking and canning for the next few days . I used to run West Marine's boat [ Fortier 26 w/ Yanmar 165] out of Santa Cruz Harbor and also hop on the long range boats out of San Diego . Big fun . Gotta go back and get a ride.............
