Once again, the great city of Seattle has agreed to provide a boat show for our entertainment during our annual winter convention.

Lodging

You're welcome to stay anywhere, but you're just plain nuts if you don't take advantage of the arrangements Chivita Dave has made for us to stay at the Larkspur Landing.

Phone: 425-235-1212 (make sure and ask for the C-Brat Special)
Rate: $49.00 a night plus tax plus a big hug for Dave

Entertainment

Friday Night - To Be Determined

Saturday Night - We'll have one heck of a party - still working on the details.

The Rest Of The Time - Whatever suits your fancy. Oh yeah - there is a boat show going on, and at any given time, there should be at least 10 of us hanging out in the C-Dory booth. Can't have any potential customers under the impression they would just be buying a boat - they must realize membership in the asylum is mandatory.

Discuss away - any agreed upon details will be added to this post.

I say we should shoot for the first weekend, Jan. 16,17,18. That way the free stuff won't all be gone. It doesn't matter so much to me, though. There is a chance that they won't let me off work depsite my power whining.

I'm game for either weekend but being the impatient sort, I vote for the first weekend. It should be fun poking around in the big city. Wonder if I can sneak a heater out of the show without M noticing?

Went to the C-Dory Factory today, watched 3 boats loaded for Cutter Marine in Baltimore, a 22 Cruiser, 16' and a 25 cruiser.

Also put a bug in their ear about helping us out on the CBC@SBS ... Guess we need some input  from someone to make sure that we still get the good rate at the Hotel and what they(the hotel) need to know about setting up a room. Also told C-dory to expect some "sales help" if needed.
Time is flying... :bat

:smiled SO, it is decided that the official date of the C-Dory/C-Brat/Boat Show and Convention is the first weekend, Jan. 16,17,18th.
 OK, I heard some scuttlebutt about Chivita Dave and I just want to make sure that we are still planning on staying at the Larkspur Landing. and if the other hotel will be able to let us use the facilitys for the evening festivities.
It was a good combination last year and maybe we need to stay in the other hotel to be able to use the kitchen.
:thup It is great that Jim is talking to the Factory for us. I just want to get the location nailed down for our (Convention....lol....) party

Hmmmm, ya'll got me thinkin' (a dangerous thing).....if we made all of our gatherings "Conventions", could we "write them off" on our taxes?

Anybody know Ricardo's last name and how to spell it? And I don't mean the old guy from Fantasy Island. I am thinking about writing the guy a letter to introduce our new C-Brat site and suggest that C-Dory sponsor our convention in conjunction with the SBS. This would be a real letter - the kind you put in an envelope and slap a stamp on.

:(
I called the Larkspur Landing tonite to make reservations for the 16th to the 18th. when I asked for the C-Brat special rate the lady told me there was nothing on the books for the C-Brats.
She told me that she would have one of her supervisors give me a call tomorrow, so I will let you all know what the answer will be when I hear from them.

Has anyone here made reservations at the Larkspur yet.
I have tried to make reservations but I was told again today that there was no C-Brat special fare. :cry I am wondering what any of you have come up with

Here's the stiuation. The outfit that owns the Larkspur and the Hilton is under new management or something like that, and Chivita Dave no longer is associated with them. I think they made his life miserable so he quit 'em to become a boat bum. So, the amazing deal Dave provided us last year isn't going to happen this year.

First, let me say I am not surprised. I can't see how Chivita managed to pull it off once, let alone a repeat. All of us who were there last year are still very grateful to his whole family for the amount of effort they gave to make us feel welcome and ensure that everything worked out so well. There is no way we could rightfully have expected so gracious a host. Thank you again, Dave, Sylvia and the boys, for letting us be like family for that weekend. It was a spectacular highlight in the life of the C-Brats!

Anyhow, now we have to figure out what to do this time around. I have no problem whining and begging the C-Dory folks to contribute to the Saturday night convention, but there should be some plan in place for them to contribute to. It looked to most of us like last year's event just "happened", but there was a lot of effort put into it by Dave and his staff.

Any ideas?

Just a thought... The Official Hotel of the Seattle Boat Show is the Crowne Plaza Hotel.. I understand they have a special rate, and free shuttles to the show and such. There is a link on the SBS website. It would be nice to make sure we might be all staying either with other C-Dory folks, or in the same hotel. Either way we need to make a move on this so we don't lose out on availability. Any other ideas?
Jim

Distressing to hear that Chivita Dave is no longer with the Larkspur/Hilton. Hopefully he left on his terms. He certainly was as Mike said, a gracious host for the C-Brats as well as being a first class stand up guy. I'm more concerned about Dave and his family than I am about finding an alternative place to stay.

For what it is worth Jim suggested the Crown Plaza. This of course is right downtown and although they offer a shuttle to the SBS, it is any easy walk (even for an old duffer like me). The SBS rate is 82.00 per, single or double occupancy,
12.00 a day for parking, 20% off coupons at the resturant, complimentary shuttle, deadline for reservation 12/31/03.

I don't suppose they have kitchens and I suspect it would be tough to find a room (affordable) with accomodations for a group get-together with the ambiance and amenities we had at the Larkspur. That will be sorely missed.
