1988 16' Angler

There is a nice (fresh water) 16' Angler with a 40hp & a 5hp, and DS on a nice trlr. at WestMarine in Anacortes. for 9.5k

I'm looking to replace a 13.5' Sea Sprite that I tow with something covered. A new dinghy is something I'd like to have, but nothing I need, so I'm looking for the best deal I can find. That Anacortes package is just what I'd like to have, but that's almost twice what I want to pay.

OK, I did it. :D I gave him 8k for it. Both motors run great. I had to build an anchor light, replace the running light switch and the sounder will take some fiddling with. It's an old Coastal Navigator Integrator with the scanning transducer and Loran-C modules. Other than that....How do you get down the forward hatch from the deck?

Good for you Capn Jack. Sounds like you got a nice deal on the boat.

I hope some day we cross wakes on the water. Be fun to meet you and see the modifications you make to the boat.

Can’t help you with the forward hatch question. I have the cruiser model. I am not sure why you would want to go down the hatch anyway. Maybe some one with the Angler model will post a reply.

Thanks Dave,

I was just being facetious  about going down the forward hatch. Last night I thought I had most everything looking good when I decided to replace three corroded aluminum pole holders. Argh! They were through bolted with backing plates (expecting Moby Dick Maybe?). Now I've got floatation blocks scattered all over that need to be re-installed :crook Today I'll install a Dole Fin on the 40, tomorrow we're off to Bellingham to buy a replacement for one of the teak cabin top handrails.
My wife keeps shaking her head mumbling something about,"It's only a dinghy".

Capn Jack,

Before purchasing/installing the Dole Fin, you might be better off installing a Permatrim instead. Ask Oldgrowth Dave about his fabricated Permatrim. We've installed them on our engine and love 'em. And they're supposed to work great on 16's. There's lots of info on Permatrims on this site. Take a look.

Oh, btw, congratulations on your "new" boat.

Peter,

Thanks for the input, but it's installed already. :crook I called it a Dole Fin, but what I installed is a "StingRay". Like a Dole Fin, only it's one piece and extends further back over the prop. Next project is a bilge pump...Would you believe the '88 Angler didn't come with a bilge pump?

Jack, Congrats on your boat. I had to grin on your mate's statement about the boat only being a dingy. Once I got going on the last 18' Angler made, (hull #14 of 14).... I just kept going and going... I am thinking of renameing her "C-Energizer"...

Have fun re-doing your boat.
