Ruth & Joe - since we have the whole U dock, I assume we just show up and do not need an individual reservation, correct?

Correct. No need to call in for reservations for the dates of July 14-16. Just show up :) I told B'Ham to expect anywhere from ten to twenty-five boats. If there's more than what fits the dock, we can raft or they'll place the extras somewhere else.

The fee envelopes for moorage are located just north of the boat launch. I will also pick up some extra envelopes to hand out at U dock. Credit cards are accepted for moorage but that is done ONLY at port office located in Marina Square.

It is my understanding that this marina does not have a web site yet that shows their dock layout. I have been given brochures that show all of Squalicum Harbor and parking, etc. If anyone is in need of a brochure please send me a PM with your mailing address and I will mail one to you.

We checked out the BaySide Cafe for breakfast Saturday and/or Sunday morning and there's plenty of room for ALL the Brats. This restaurant is located just north of the boat launch and opens at 8AM. Anthony's is nearby and an excellent choice for a Friday night dinner.

(Oldgrowth): Yes, Indeed these maps do help! I guess that the lady at the port office doesn't know that this information is available on-line. I know I didn't. Thank you.

(TyBoo): And many thanks Mike for setting us up with a sign-up sheet. Looking forward to seeing you and your family. There's a little marine life center near the boat launch that the girls might enjoy. The lady (Sandra) that runs it also has a C-Dory and uses her boat to collect the sea life for the aquarium.

Many thanks,

Ruth and Joe

So are we staying at the Squalicum Harbor at the Port of Bellingham?
http://www.portofbellingham.com/squalic ... e_page.php

And is this what's to see there?

The TyBoo and crew are going to make it this year. We'll probably launch a week early at Deception Pass (tradition) and stay around the SJs a week or so afterward. We have some catching up to do!

Yes, we'll be staying at Squalicum Harbor/Port of Bellingham at Dock U (Use the east entrance to the harbor).

Gate #12 for those arriving without a boat.

Gate #10 off of Bellwether Way to use the boat launch and truck/trailer parking. Additional overflow parking across the street to the south (gravel lot).

To the TyBoo crew: We're so happy that you're coming up to our neck of the woods. Looking forward to a good visit.

Talking to a guy at work today who keeps his boat up there somewhere. He says the entrance to Bellingham is shallow and hard to run when windy. Of course, he has a big old trawler. Are there any tricks to know?

It does get windy out there in the main channel but after that trip from Sequim in October, B'Ham is a dream. The east entrance is a bit narrow and shallow but I (Ruth here) just keep an eye on the depth and stay to the middle of the channel while Joe does the fenders and the lines. Haven't knocked him off the boat (yet  ). Lots of big deep-draft boats moored inside the east entrance (Joe says). No problem.

You're just not tryin' Ruth! A quick application of the throttle and perhaps a hard turn to port.......

Ruth & Joe,

Caryn and I would love to join you folks in Bellingham. Thanks for setting this up. How's the run up from Twin Bridges to Bellingham? We've never done it before but it sounds like fun.

Hey C-Dancer, When you come out of the Swinomish Channel just head upthe east side of Guemes and it is almost a straight line up to Bellingham. Takes about an hour at 14 mph. (I'll join up with you as you go past if you honk a couple of times) This is assuming I am back from the month trip up to Ketchikan and Kate will let me go that soon after returning. Should have some stories to tell.

If I don't end up in a slave labor camp in Ketchikan all summer, we'll be there, otherwise, maybe David will buy me a beer

Count C-Cakes in. We had such a good time at Lopez we couldn't miss this one.
Is there a pot luck associated or is this a "let somebody else do the cooking" event??

Barry and Patti

We had hoped to have our C-Ranger 25 in time for the Bellighan get together, but they are running a bit late and it probably won't be ready until August. Maybe next year.

Art and Diane

Art and Diane,

You don't have to have a boat to come and take part. There were a couple of people at Lopez that were boat-less.

Come on up and mingle, wander through some boats, have a sun-downer.

Joe And Ruth ,
Thanks for all your hard work on this gathering. we are really looking forward to it. Bellingham is new to us .
I am going to e-mail, Clyde Ford, the author that has his Willard there and see if he might join us for a bit, meet some of the C-Brat family ,and who knows we might show up in one of his books.

To: Jim & Laurie,

Thank you for the kind words. As much as we've used Squalicum Harbor to launch, we've never had the experience of having a group there. We've been going down there at least once a week to check things out and get ideas.

To: Patty & Barry (C-Cakes),

As far as I can figure out, we should have ample room on the dock for the
Saturday evening pot luck. Usually have nice weather the middle of July.

To our boatless visitors, we have the Hotel Bellwether located within walking distance of U Dock. Their "Executive Rooms" start at $129-$275. Premier Suites are $159-$299, etc. That phone number is 360-392-3100 or 1-877-411-1200.
They are also on the web at www.hotelbellwether.com or you can
email them at reservations@hotelbellwether.com

Hotel Bellwether also has their own dock which can be used if you've registered for a room with them, but they will also charge you $1.40 a foot per night. Whereas, the Port of Bellingham only charges us 50 cents per foot per night if we are using their docks.

To anyone interested in looking at boat 'stuff', we will be within walking distance of Redden Marine and LFS Marine. Then there's a place that's probably a mile or more away that's called Pacific Marine. If there's some special piece of something that you need, you might find it at Pacific Marine. Lots of 'stuff' that's been salvaged, etc. Has one of those dark looking downstairs where there's windows, doors, propellors, you name it.We have spent a lot of time poking around in this place. Outside there's a whole yard of different sized radar arches and just more 'stuff'.

Looking forward to seeing all of you again. I should have more information as we get closer to July 14th.
