06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

We visited Cutter,s today and lerned that outfitting will start tomorrow.( On our new boat)
The latest issue of the Mariner Paper just arrived and our record gathering was duly noted with words and pictures. Someone did a really nice job with a press release. Ruth shared some of her and Gary's pictures of the event. We enjoyed remerbing all the fun.
The pictures on this site brought back a lot of fine memories.

Thanks to all.

Thanks to everyone again for planning a great gathering, Tom this was also our first c-dory gathering, and an extra thanks to Mary and her brother Terry and his grandson(the bartender) for supplying and cooking those red and white hot dogs from N.Y. I can still taste them. Hope to see some of you again on the Erie Canal in Sept. Rich

Well, I'm back, as Jack Nicholson would say....

We are greatly enjoying Sally's Sister here . Been moving all over the Bay. Since my previous boats topped out at 8 knots, this is a rocket for me...Only about 2 hours to Baltimore...an Orioles game, dinner, and home the same day..wow.

I have a feeling the gauntlet has been thrown from the Left Coast Gang re: record setting...Nothing sets me Irish blood going more than a good healthy competition...We might shoot for numbers, most states, and foreign countries, and photograph with largest number of boats pictured.

But i'm getting ahead of myself. Our committee has not decided on next year...but i'm hoping.

The history of National Boh is absolutely great...i'll build it into my Chesapeake presentation..thanks...

I'm off to Ireland in September with my band, Guys, and Doll..to play Clifden Arts Week...our 8th appearance there...

I like the article, but sense the boy needs to lose a pound or two...
We have had a great feedback here on the gathering and will soon announce whether we will be doing it again.

Cutter is, I believe, planning to host a gathering next year...so there may be two opportunities to get together...

Musical update: Terraplane Tom and the band, Guys and Doll, are fully booked this summer...and will be leaving for Ireland on September 12 for ten days...performing at Clifden Arts Week, Co. Galway, Eire. If we hold the gathering next year, I'll bring the whole band!

Summer here is moving along. I recently took my 12 year old for a cruise on The Bay...it was great...five days. This week i'll be in Baltimore for a couple of days....by boat. During August Ann and I plan to be on the Bay for a week of meandering...may drop in on some of you.

Happy cruising.

Indeed! Thanks, just like we were there all over again! This was one SPECIAL cruise. We don't get a chance to get out of our home waters enough, and it really was great get to know a little about the home waters of our Eastern Shore friends, and the history and culture of the Chesapeake!

Will be of especial interest for those who did the post-Gathering cruise together.

The Chesapeake Reunion Association,Boats (CRAB) has not had a chance to meet due to our schedules, but there is a feeling abroad that we will repeat our gathering in 2006. Watch for the word.

Travels with SALLY'S SISTER are still proving to be great. We have over 100 hours on her since taking possession in late May...with the glorious Chesapeake fall yet to come. Great boat...though i do get a little tired of the constand.."Oh look, isn't she cute?"....

Tom - how come the Sally's Sister album is empty? You need to put some pix in there, Commodore!

Pat,

You are speaking to a veritable computer dunce. Not only do i not have a scanner, or knowledge of how to put pictures here on the site, but i still use almost the equivalent of a Brownie Hawkeye camera! Can't even get film for it...well, not really that bad.

I'd love to get some pictures on of the boat, some of my "renovations' and local stops and scenes...Someone tell me what i need to do it..

PS. Daydream looks wonderful...i love the idea of the composting toilet.

Still contemplating a visit to you guys sometime in 2006.

Hi Tom,

You need to go out and buy a "cheap" $100-$200 digital camera at your local camera store or Wal-Mart, read the instructions, and start snappin' pictures. Then load to your computer with the attached cable, and post them to this site. Piece of cake. Trying to scan prints and then copy them to the internet is WAY to complicated!

We are definitely in favor of a repeat Eastern Shore Gathering! How about the "Glorious Fall"?

El and Bill,

Loved your stories. Book deals pending???

El and Bill,

I just looked at your images and write-up of your time on the Chesapeake this June.

I have sailed the Bay for 40 years and feel like it is an old friend. You have captured its essence. Penny and I enjoyed sharing time with you as we all got better acquainted.

Great job.
