Patty and I are going to cruise to Princess Louisa the Memorial Day weekend, four days, Friday May 26 though Monday, May 29. SusanE Tom (Starcraft Tom) said he was going to head that way that weekend too. That sounds like the start of a CBGT to me...We'll be leaving from Blaine Friday a.m. as early as I can roust the fam...How about a sign-up sheet for that?

What's to shake down? Just a place we need to get to...call it a shake down, tune up, whatever! So many destinations, so little time!

Is this going to be a shake-down cruise for the Ketchikan trip 10 days later? Have to think about this one in view of that fact.

We want to try to make this one too! Kind of up in the air but I think we can swing it. Tom are you leaving from ....Everett? Or going to drive up north?

Princess Louisa Memorial Day weekend sounds like a great idea! Caryn and I have talked about heading up there this year. This might work for us. Plus, it's always better to go somewhere with experienced boaters to help us newbies along :)

We will be leaving from twin bridges on friday night and heading over to poets cove for the night. In the morning we head north to nanimo and cross the striats near whisky golf and on to P.L. inlet.we plan on not coming back until wensday night. Taking time off without pay for that. We may come back down the west or east side depending on weather.

here part of my report from last year. http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=2020

We will clear customs at White Rock, but that is just because we are launching in Blaine...Bedwell Harbor (Poet's Cove) is a natural for people launching in Everett or Anacortes...

I and sue are considering this one as well. Where and/or how are you planning on clearing customs?

Back to the top! There are five boats signed up - this should be a GREAT one! I am assuming we will all rendevous at PL on Saturday, is there any spot there to have a group campfire / pot luck?

Pat,

Here is a photo of the campfire shelter at Princess Louisa. There is a firepit in the center and benches and picnic table.
Photo taken circa 1988.

Just bringing this topic back up to the top. I suppose it's a good time for everyone to start thinking about the trip, where you're starting from, which route etc. Is anyone taking off from Twin Bridges Friday morning? We would sure like some company seeing as how we've never been to Princess Louisa before.

I and sue are going to join you all. I am certainly open as to where to launch and be able to leave the truck/trailer. We are trailering up from oregon. We hope to be in the water on friday morning. We are willing to buddy boat with anyone that doesn't mind putting along with a 16'.

I will be leaving twin bridges friday night after work, when ever that is, and heading over to poets cove for the night. Are you guys going there the first night or are you heading farther north? There is always trailering into canada and launching closer to the inlet. pender harbor or secert cove both have ramps. Also vacouver has some ramps.

OK, I am taking Friday off, we will go to Birch Bay Thursday evening after work. Friday morning we will launch at Blaine, clear customs at White Rock, and then try to make the run to Pender Harbor along the mainland side. Spend the night at Pender Harbor and go on up Jervis Inlet the next morning. Stay Saturday and Sunday at Princess Louisa, then Sunday afternoon, run back down to Pender Harbor for the night again, Monday make our way back to Blaine (where we will clear customs by phone with our spiffy new I-68s).

Folks - wish I could join you to Princess Louisa. Went there in 1997 on a 25' Nordic Tug. Left from Anacortes. That was a slow trip with the tug's top speed around six knots. It was in Sept, and the weather was incredibly beautiful. The only down side was the fact that a large boat took up almost the entire dock at the end of the fiord for several days. It was so large that it had a baby grand piano in the salon. Hope you don't run into that situation. The Young LIfe camp at the entrance was shut down then, so we used their dock to wait for the tide to change. Of course a C-Dory should be able to move into the arm with little problem. Those tumbling water falls, not just Chatterbox, are indeed spectacular.
And visiting Pender Harbor to and from is a real joy. Have a good, safe trip. John
