Friday Harbor CBGT 2021

Last year we had a reservation at Friday Harbor for May 15 – 17, Thurs to Sunday. We have an option on a return this year, May 13-16, Thurs to Sunday. I just received an email from the Port asking if we are planning on returning this year.

I don’t know. Are we?

Thank you, and please comment before the evening of Jan 17 as I need to get back to them the following Monday. I will need to let Tami know next week so I will compile the numbers the morning of Monday, 1/17. These do not need to be concrete reservation yet, but what is your likelihood of attending? Shine up those Crystal balls or what ever you use.

I have some concerns. Yup, Covid for one. I doubt the Canadian border will be open. I have no idea what kind of restrictions FH Port will have going at the time. I am looking forward to getting my vaccination this week and hoping to see many more folks doing the same. Not wanting to get into that here so . . . .

The FH CBGT will probably be different that what we have seen before, but it would still be at Friday Harbor, and we could be on our boats. I need to know this fairly soon, like this week. Then we will fill in the blanks as we go. I know from last time that we have some really good folks who are willing to step up and help with what is needed. So here we go.

For now, I need to know:
1. If you were planning to be at the 2021 FH-CBGT 13-16 May.
2. If you are planning on being at Friday Harbor Marina anytime during the summer?

There may be a pre-cruise, beginning the Sunday before, and ending at FH on Thursday. That will be addressed in a separate thread.

Harvey,
Count me and Joanie in for the 2021 FH CBGT! Hopefully it will happen provided it is safe to have such a gathering. Let's plan that the gathering will occur and give us something to look forward. If it turns out not to be safe for the event, I'm sure the county and port will issue directives to cancel it if necessary. I hope we'll be mostly over the pandemic by then.

Colleen and I are in. We will be at FH Marina several times throughout the Summer and Fall.

Thank you Harvey for doing the ground work. You can always count us in to help you in whatever way we can. We will provide the donuts, pastries and juice for the Saturday morning meeting on the dock.

Marcia and I would like to motor up from south Sound if we get our shots by then.

Any news on Halibut seasons yet, as we might add a check of Dallas Bank if open. I can't find anything.

I'd love to join but it really depends on the vaccine progress and safety for us all. I am actively looking for a 22' and possibly a 25' at this time. The ladder after I sell my current boat.

Stay safe and well! Cheers

I am new to this forum after purchasing our first CC this late summer. Please count my family in for this; we are looking forward to exploring this wonderful area in more detail in 2021.

Best,

Brock

Brock, Welcome to C-Brats. It will be nice to meet you at this annual gathering of C-Dory owners or those who want to own a C-Dory. Congratulations on the purchase of your 2007 26 Venture. You may have much interest from others at the event to see your new boat, including myself.

Gary and Colleen on 'DayBreak.'

Oh Boy, This is good. There is interest, YES, and participation is planned. We have 12 boats so far, (If I counted right  So that is a good start. As the word gets around (be sure to pass it out, you want your friends there), I hope we see more folks and a great time. I'm sure we will.

And FYI, I get my shot tomorrow 8) :thup :thup

Is there room for another newbie? Sounds like a great get-together. I dread the thought of trailering through Seattle so I would like to start south of there. Is there a good launch and a place to leave a truck and trailer on Hood Canal?

For Hood Canal, ones I've used, I'm not sure all would be good for C-Dory launch since mostly used for launching kayaks. Twanoh and Fort Flagler are OK for sure...beautiful ramps with a fee for launch and parking.

Twanoh State Park (my favorite, though way south on Hood Canal; secure with ranger patrol) https://parks.state.wa.us/294/Twanoh

Union Boat Launch, don't remember much about this one, used long ago.

Camp Parsons Boat Launch (Boy Scouts of America, don't know if public can use)

Port Whitney Public Access https://wdfw.wa.gov/places-to-go/water-access-sites (Washington Dept Fish & Wildlife; free with Washington fishing decal). Security concerns here.

also

Fort Flagler State Park (not on Hood Canal, but further N and I often used this launch and camped or moored here to get to Halibut fishing in Straits of Juan de Fuca), straight shot at Islands. Secure parking with Ranger patrol. God, I miss those multiple days of Halibut fishing.

You might also want to look at John Wayne marina or Sequim Bay State Park. I've anchored in Sequim Bay, but not used marinas or launches. No doubt Harvey will comment on JWM and probably other places I don't know about.

If you haven't been there, consider a drive up Hurricane Ridge this time of year. Watch out for aggressive mountain goats, though.

Recently retired educator who is new to boating with our recently acquired 2005 22. Excited to meet and learn from other more experienced C-Dory owners. I am learning a lot from this forum. Valorie and I would love to join. We live in Bellingham. Thank you for the invite. Rob

Rob, welcome to C-Brats. We look forward to meeting you and Valorie at the Friday Harbor C-Brats gathering. Congratulations on the purchase of your 22 Cruiser. You will meet many very nice people and learn more about boating from talking to others at the event. Just go to the 'Event Signups' at the top heading on the main page to officially add your name to the list. See you then.

Gary.
