01/29 - 01/31 - Seattle Boat Show 2016

As might be apparent from the lack of any earlier posting. I've been too preoccupied with work and other life issues to worry about putting together any CBGT for this year's boat show. As such I'm letting everyone know that I'm abdicating my previous role as organizer for this event. If anyone wishes to take it over or do something for the show, by all means feel free to do so.

How about simply setting 2 or 3 (or more) meeting times at the c-dory booth, and agree on a restaurant after meeting . I would suspect a daytime weekday for a lunch would work well for us retirees, and a evening time and weekend time for those working days. I went 3 times last year and would have been happy to meet people each time.

Pioneer Square and the stadium area have lots of restaurants, and so long as we are not eating at prime time there usually is lots of room for drop-ins.

We could agree as to meeting times via this thread.

Susan is working on something. She will post in a day or two. Working on a hotel that will let us have a pot luck. If that does not work out then the above plan looks good.

Super Bowl 50/Seahawks - will it be a factor?

Being retired and a day's drive away, I don't want to compete with the working people on the weekend. I'll come mid-week, so I like RobLL's idea. It would be great to meet some other C-brats at the show.

rogerbum, Thanks for all your efforts from previous years. I know how work can get in the way of life. I haven't been at the SBS CBGT for a couple years, due to that work thing. I did make it to the Brewery for the mini get together there. I hope we can do that again.

Thanks again,

Harvey

To All,

We have resurrected Saturday night Pot Luck. The Silver cloud at Lake Union has given us the Lakeview lobby with existing setup at $200 + tax rental fee. This room is the Room that they host their continental Breakfast in the mornings. I believe it is on the second floor. It is s Huge Room with tables, chairs, lake views, a patio, tea coffee, electrical outlets. We are allowed to bring in any food. I will apply for the 10$ liquor license for beer and wine.

The PotLuck will be Saturday Jan 30th from 5-7 pm. The lake view lobby room is not a private affair so other hotel guests are welcome in , but C-brats love to brag about our boats so i am sure they would enjoy our company. We can arrive earlier to set up if we wish and stay longer than 7pm as long as we are Quiet after 7pm . there are adjacent rooms to the lobby that they will try to put our group in . But they said they will ask us to be quiet after 7pm. We will see how that goes. I only see talking and laughing as a problem after 7pm. But if we have the whole floor who cares.

I need to confirm by friday for the Lobby. and i will pay for the rental fee next week if this sounds like a good idea to most.

the silver cloud at Lake union has also reserved 20 rooms at a group rate. I will post those details next.

Susan

All sounds great Susan but I am only wondering about the potluck. With folks gone at the show for the whole day and staying in the hotel, what are folks going to be able to bring/make/prepare? I guess many could bring a cold something from home and stash it in the minifridge... Just thinking it will be tough to put dishes together without at least the tiny floating kitchens most have on the boats. Maybe another night out at Dukes across the street is in order.

I dont know? any ideas are welcome. I would think it was no different then the potluck at the larkspur hotel. I brought my cockpot and let enchiladas cook in the hotel room in the crockpot during the day on saturday while we were at the boat show. lots of people brought pizza, chicken , sandwiches. deserts. etc. and of course Ruthy brought cake.

but there are several restaurants available..

there is a I Luv Sushi across the street also. and Daniels broiler (but Pricey).

but if no pot luck is an old worn out idea and unwanted i need do know preferable by monday

I like the idea of eating out both nights... I would not be able to make the Friday evening event as the clipper arrives from Victoria at 7:45... and might have trouble organizing food for the pot luck. However, if we go for the potluck, I am sure I could bring something!

Thank you, Susan! You're a hero.

I made a signup list and set the dates for Friday, 01/29 thru Sunday, 01/31. If that should be changed, let me know.

Susan, Thank you for your efforts. I think I would be in for the hotel night, as long as there is SBS going on through the next day, Sunday. Pot luck, sounds good, I think I would rather eat there at the hotel. even pizza delivery or  catered .... watching $$. I was hoping we would be able to do the brewery again, maybe there is no interest. I would guess getting a bus and going there Sat night would cost as much or more than just going out from the hotel. What ever works for the most of us is probably the best for all.

Wondering if there would be some presenter of sorts, that would/could be a draw for that. Something like Sam's presentation, music like Peter's or even Capn Charlie from Gig Harbor. Maybe someone from Seattle Vessel Traffic?
OR.......

Yielding to your expertise.

Hey Susan & Tom! Thanks for grabbing the reins on this stuff. Tanya and I would definitely be up for a Gathering during the SBS and staying at the Lake Union Silver Cloud even if it winds up only being the two of you but the more the merrier.

Pot Luck is also fine w/ us since we can always find some kind of viable prepared food somewhere around or go ALL "Julia Child" in the room ala Susan if I can only figure out how to boil that darn water first!

BTW, as Harvey stated, thanks RogerBum for all your past efforts. Perhaps you & Joyce will at least have a chance to stop by this year and see everybody in lieu of handling the organizing aspect sir.

Boating season is way, way, to far off in the future to wait for us weather wimps so a chance to hook up w/ the many fine folks who frequent the C-Brat Gatherings in the middle of winter would be a great stopgap in the meantime.

Take care,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah on Echo

Thanks Susan, Tom and Mike, Yippieeee A CBGT. People, Boats, food and fun.

Isn't this place just great :?: :D :hug :hug2 :thup :thup
