I should add, one thing I will definitely be looking hard at, after reading about the stern drag issues some people talk about, is moving the battery as far forward as I can (at the expense of 10+ feet of 3 ga. copper :-/)

Congrats. I also just bought a 16. How does that 5hp kicker do? I am adding a kicker and have heard varying things about how much power is needed. Definitely want a get-home motor, but also want to keep transom weight down.
