Mystery electrical system problem - not sure how to proceed.

Something happened to me year's ago. One day, my car would not start. The battery was fine, and there was no visible signs of corrosion. The (hot side) battery cable looked fine on the outside, but when I checked, the wire was corroded a few inches inside the cable. The starter could not get...
  2. Sep 18, 2013. What a 4 footer looks like through the Marinaut windshield. This was a rough day on Long Island Sound. Significant wave height was 2.5 to 3 feet, with maximum wave height to 4 feet. Infrequently, we saw rogue waves of 5 to 6 feet. LI Sound was like this nearly the entire 2013 season as short term, alternating cold and warm fronts whipsawed the Eastern Seaboard. The issue with LI Sound is not just the wave heights, but we have major tidal flows and two rivers to contend with that at times can create confused seas.

Marinaut with square rear window... looks good!

Here is another reason to keep the iconic round Marinaut window. In this photograph, a picture of the Marinaut, Irish Queen, is taken through the round window of the Betty Ann. In my opinion, round is a better way to frame the shot. :D...

In this movie I took, they just turned on the pumps at Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport, NY in June 2013. Initially the water was rusty brown in color, because apparently, it had not been used for a protracted time.

    Marinaut Storage

Seawolf, Sunbeam, Actually I don't know anything about the flat hose Greg proposed ( perhaps they should call it, from a marketing perspective, a flose? ) It just looked like it did not take much space, but we do have high pressure in the Northeast, and I do need a hose to handle higher...

Greg: that is a fantastic product! My hose is 50 feet and takes a lot of space. How long have you had these? Rich

Backing Up The Marinaut Into Slips In The Northeast -- Not!

We prefer a starboard dock, too, because our kicker is located on the port side. Unfortunately, my marina requires a port side dock, and it is easy to damage our kicker. As for rafting up, when we go into most marinas in the Northeast, we are usually the smallest cruiser. Our area of the...

    Marinaut Storage

Hello Jake, I ran out of Marine Sta-Bil, had to fill up, so I bought Startron. Now I'm back to using Marne Sta-Bil, which I have had great luck with in carbureted engines. There was a point in transition back to Marine Sta-Bil where both products were in my tanks. No problems encountered, but...

Backing Up The Marinaut Into Slips In The Northeast -- Not!

In the Northeast, nearly everyone seems to want to back into transient berths. I just don't get it, because it risks damaging an engine. In the PNW, it's the opposite case. I have found it nearly impossible to back up our Marinaut and make a turn into a slip when the wind is significant and...

Mystery electrical system problem - not sure how to proceed.

Your welcome Sunbeam. On my CD 16, lashing the kicker was not as effective due to the weight distribution and length of the boat in that it was very unresponsive in turns. With our length boats, it is really surprising how responsive this set up is. I am glad it works on your boat as well. Rich

    transom step (home made)

Redfox, Greg got me thinking -- you could attach a steel grid across the top. If properly designed, it would support your weight, provide traction, and prevent slapping. Rich

    Marinaut Storage

Sunbeam, I bought the squeegee at defender.com, and use it to clean water off of my glass and vinyl windows after a wash down to prevent water spots from forming: Shurhold Shur-Dry Flexible Water Blade Easily Molds To Curved Boats And Vehicles 2-3/8" X 12" Long Blade Flexible Squeegee Works on...

Mystery electrical system problem - not sure how to proceed.

Sunbeam -- that is a great write up. After my boat accident, I drove the boat back to port for the twenty-mile trip on my kicker engine while running my radio, radar and chart plotter on house battery. After the boat was repaired, we took it out for a ride, and then the chart plotter screen...

    transom step (home made)

I'm going to be the oddball here and express concern that wonderful craftsmanship aside, using the transom step as shown in the picture could cause severe bodily injury. If your foot slips, your leg could slip through and it will either get stuck, or suffer a severe break. If this happened...

    Marinaut sightings

Our friends Steve and Eileen are the proud owners of the Marinaut 215, and their boat the Irish Queen, in my opinion, is the most well equipped Marinaut at the time of her manufacture. Following are photos of the Irish Queen taken at Greenport, NY, as well as two movies showing her accelerating...

  19. The Irish Queen goes W.O.T. in Long Island in May 2013. This movie really shows the power of Honda?s B.L.A.S.T. when you put the pedal to the metal. 115+ HP is more than enough for the Marinaut.
