1st - a large forward "V" shaped storage locker.
2nd - 6" round access hatch to the inside of the stem and under the anchor locker. This hatch gives clear access down under the "V" storage locker and under the cabin sole to the cabin 6" access access hatch at the inside of the door bulkhead...
The machine screws are 1-3/4" long and are nutted to hold the hatch in place, then nutted again with fender washers to hold the insulation in place. The perimeter of the sheet insulation is wedged in place by fit and the reverse angle of the hull.
Looking straight down at the inside of the stem and a bit aft. The orange is the backside of the forward "V" storage locker bulkhead. There is about a 2" clearance under the "V" storage locker.
6" Access hatch to stem.
At the time the picture was taken I was finishing the last of 4 coats of Clear Satin 1100 Varathane on all the teak inside the Cabin and Cutty. Blue Painters Tape - Good Stuff.
Two sheet layers of flexable foam insulation. This is the only area in the boat that I collect any dampness from condensation. This access hole allowed me to insulate the area and to help better control condensation at this spot.
