Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

Joel, You have been extremely helpful. I ordered the exact same jets you have and am waiting for them to clean/change jets in the carbs. Thanks Brent for that link. That would be an easier option for me opposed to building one and saving $40. I actually looked up a youtube video on...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

I hope I'm getting close. Yes I understand the carbs all need to be synced after the cleaning. I planned to take them to the mechanic to have this done when I was finished in less you are saying there is a relatively cheap/easy way to do this yourself. Please advise. Thanks!

Thanks, There is no way to take the bowl off without removing the whole carb manifold off as the carbs are all stacked on top of each other. At this point since there is a member here with the same motor who has re jetted his carbs and had good operation since I'm going to pull the carbs...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

The first thing I did was check for spark by turning engine over while plug and cable are connected and grounding it on the motor. I saw spark. I think you still have a good idea, I might as well replace the plug assembly to confirm this is not the issue before digging into the carbs. It...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

Ok, So i decided to check for spark and all plugs have it. I then decided to pull plug wires with motor running to see how it would effect the performance since its acting like its only running on 2 of the 3 cylinders. Well when i disconnected the plug cable to cylinder number #1 it made no...

Repowering from twins to single and a kicker

Well, the actual mechanics involved in switching from twins to a single seem to be a very easy concept so I will respond to others notes on why I'm considering. Hardee wrote [No offense, but the issue with the cooling system hose was not the twins fault, and it could have happened to either a...

Is my 22 cruiser cabin top cored?

I bolted my 6 rod holder on to my 03 22 cruiser. I don't remember drilling out any wood but I mounted directly above the cabin door on the angle before the roof becomes flat. I'm not sure if the top is cored or not but imo there isn't enough material to secure screws to for a permanent mount...

Repowering from twins to single and a kicker

Hi Bauer, Yes I do know that. My thought process went from first having engine troubles and fixing to then pondering re-power and I just automatically thought to replace with what a I had which is twins. It seems like a very straight forward switch over but I didn't know if I was missing...

Repowering from twins to single and a kicker

Haha. I'd really like to keep this thread focused on the potential issues of changeover to a single, but I don't mind stating some of my reasons. 1. More power to weight ratio hanging off the transom even with added weight of a kicker. 2. Less maintenance costs and my own time lost since I do...

I have not. I will check on that as well tomorrow. Easy replacement.

Repowering from twins to single and a kicker

I know 1 thing right off is I would need to invest in trim tabs. The permatrims on my twins were fine, but I imagine thats a must for a single powerplant.

Repowering from twins to single and a kicker

Hi all, I just posted a thread about more issues I have with my twin yami 40s. I'm really sick of the carb issues and looking into repowering with new EFI so I can enjoy boating more and have less hassles. I just refuse to put anymore money into the carbs and instead put it towards a repower...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

Yes, If Seafoam doesn't do the trick, I told myself after last time I spend $$ on carb issues I wouldn't do it again, and I"m sticking to this. This may be a new thread but I'm currently exploring options for twin 50's. I feel my Yami 40s I owned were under powered. Unfortunately the...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

I may be missing something, but I don't see how the flush port would get water in places it shouldn't be normally. Also, the problem wasn't from running the engines while using the flushing connection with a hose, but actually leaving it disconnected while running the boat in the water. To...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

drained the bowls, seemed to be fuel, although difficult to tell. Another piece of information is the last couple trips I have had spray from transducer hitting the starboard motor (motor with issues). I didn't think any would get into the engine since the cowling is a tight fit but I notice...

i just use 87 at the normal gas station but never use fuel more than 3 months old.

Both engines get the same fuel from 1 water filter/water seperator. I will check the carb bowls. My next step is to run a heavy Seafoam mixture through that engine through an auxillary tank, and then replace the inline fuel filter in the motor itself.

Here are the results of the Compression test, I did both motors for good measure. Port (motor without isssues) #1-145. #2-150. #3-150 Starboard (motor with issues) #1- 150. #2-150. #3-150 The Yamaha factory manual says psi should not be less than 175. I'm going to assume this is just...

Left yamaha flushing connectors disconnected underway

I was out in the boat today 22 Classic with 2003 twin carbed yami 40's. Everything was running great for probably around 45 minutes on the water. While underway at around 4700rpms my starboard motor started bogging down, sounding rough and wouldn't stay above 33rpm under full throttle. I...

Modifying trailer guide for Wallas exhaust

Yes, I do like the the idea of cutting a space and replacing within a section of flat bar on the outside of the guides. I would use galvanized and probably overlap maybe 6 inches and secure with screws or perhaps 2 thru bolts each side. Maybe wrap it with carpet as well. Its far enough away from...
