have not changed the fuel filter but I only have 40 hours on the engine. this problem has manifested itself since we first got the boat , even whne the filter was new. so I haven't thought the filter could be the problem. thanks for the advice. I'll check it again. TD

the prop nut is 27 MM happens to fit a 18 MM drive shaft. PURCHASED A 1 AND 1/16 INCH SOCKET AND COMPARED IT TO THE CLOSEST MM SOCKET WHicH WAS 27 mm. I PURCHASED A 27mm 12 POINT SoCKET (from Sears = $8) THAT FIT PERFECTLY. changed the prop for the 3 by 15.5 by 13. very disappointing, still...
