Balsa core does work fine, but special care needs to be taken for penetrations of the hull, particularly below the waterline. http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=15712 I do leave my CD-16 in a slip most of the year, so I am concerned about hull penetrations, particularly in the transom.

We bought the Margie May (C-Dory 16 Cruiser) from Ron Holeman a couple of years ago and are looking forward to our first C-Dory Friday Harbor trip. Up until now, we've been up and back to the SJ islands by sailboat so this trip should be a treat .... it'll be a lot faster getting there...
