This plastic tube screws into a fitting on the bottom of the tank. The tube is drilled to allow water to drain slowly and prevents small bait from being sucked down the drain.

Since the pump runs continuously, filling the tank faster than the drain tube allows, this fitting dumps excess water overboard. A plastic mesh screen prevents bait from going out. The previous owner reports that bait stays alive a very long time...because of the continual supply of fresh, clean water circulating in the tank.

Here is the fitting where water enters the tank.

Water from the pump flows through the hose that bends by that rod holder and enters the tank. The other hose is the drain that is continuously discharged overboard.

Here are some photos of the live bait well plumbed into the port laz by the dealer for the previous owner. The clear hose with check valve on the left is the intake for the manual bilge pump. This photo shows the bait pump with bronze through hull and valve.
