This barge and tug worked pretty slick. The post on each side of it could be lowered into the water up to 20 feet to push into it and hold the barge in place.

The tug towed it up the river with the mast strapped to the side of the barge where it could rest a while to make sure it was waterlogged before being dropped to the bottom of the lake again.

Some say the metal ring and boxed section are the remnants of the crows nest. Another told me that a smaller top section of mast would have been inserted here.
