Depths were 10 feet and required some reading of the river to determine where the channel might be. You can see on the chart plotter that I am beyond the blue "navigable waters" shown on the chart. I continued on 3/4 of a mile.
It was a slightly more compact version of the full reservoir, but just as spectacular.
Once past the silted-in delta, the river opened and deepened.

Right in the middle on the lower ridge is a rooster pheasant that was crowing.

The Lyons Ferry (aka Snake River) highway bridge. The bridge was originally used to cross the Columbia at Vantage, but was dismantled and recycled for use at Lyons Ferry.
