In places, the water came up from below, like an artesian well. In the center of the picture are two little "sand boils" where water is coming in from underground. Not exactly Yellowstone, but still interesting.
The source of the stream was springs seeping out of the Kayenta layer on the canyon's south side. If you are a bird watcher, just sit here for a minute.
Another neighbor. I haven't identified this one yet.
