OOOPS INSPIRED: Added 7100Lb W/L heavy equipment ratchet chain binder (foldable handle) to tie down front end as second safety chain. Secured to bow post and main trailer beam with 1/2" galv. chain. Should not come up again (or forward) unless I lose the bow eye. Chain is linked under trailer with a full oval screw on connector and locked with a padlock as anti theft precaution. I'm not intending to put this in a thread until it has been well tested.

18" chunk of 4x12 (easily cut with chainsaw) makes a great drive on for changing a flat tire on a tandem. Doubles as chock. Considering driving a couple screws completely through the tapered edge so it will get a bite on pavement and not slide as easily on drive up. At 18" it will just fit between tires for forward drive on with any tire. Other parts of the trailer travel box are: Fitting tire iron; 1 complete bearing/hub/seal kit; a second set/bearings only and races; spare bearing buddy and small grease gun; ir thermo; spare lights; tools for removing a hub; paper towels/orange gel/disposable rubber gloves; Small tarp to sit on; flares and safety reflector;trailer wiring circuit tester; chain/spare ratchet strap tie downs (for temp. emergency repairs). Please add other suggestions in comments.
This is working out very well. It is so easy to put on and take off. Fasten the rear tie downs first, then this big guy tigtens both ends down tight (by pulling the front down, back up)and front end tight to both the bow stop and the front keel roller. You can just twist the shaft by hand until tight, then a crank or two on the handle. This is the ultimate turnbuckle. The item I used is called an SCC Quikbinder. I got mine at Tarpstop.com for 34.50 + ship. I'm sure it is avail. elsewhere. WL is 7100#.(35,500# avg. break) I think at that point it is probably stronger than the bow eye. I cut off the bottom hook with an angle grinder (wouldn't want this thing bouncing down the highway) Have gained enough confidence to consider adding the powerwinch 912 back on.
Underside how chain is attached to main trailer beam. Stainless screw on with dab of JB weld and padlock for security.

4x6x12' PT main bunks mounted just inside the outer edges of the 22' I have heard it is important that PT lumber NOT come in contact with aluminum. The bunks are covered with plastic slides though I left about 4' carpet only to get some friction. There are two short plastic covered composite bunks that help support the transom weight. 2 keel rollers forward.
Bought used 03 EZ Alum tandem to replace single axle. Refitting for CD. Sun canopy for working in the heat!
