Lisa made the sock to have the exact rectangular opening of the AC unit on one end,, and the measured outer window frame on the outer edge. I used thin aluminum strips and VERY short sheet metal screws to fasten the "sock" to the AC unit. The outer edge has 1/4" bungee cord in a hem and one of those squeeze cinch thingies. There is two fabric layers with some insulating foam in between them to help (marginally) prevent air-to-air exchange.

.....and cut the cord off to be just the right length - had to open up the unit and cut off about 2ft of the pigtail, putting on new crimp ends.
I ran a dedicated AC socket to right near the AC cord outlet.
I used a kayak "bungee button" (http://kayakfishinggear.com/bungeebutton.aspx) at each corner of the window frame.

Then we started measuring for a "sock" to seal up the air as best we could.
Here is the outside of the unit sitting on the hatch hinges.
The backs of the "feet" are cut so that they sit on the hinges of the hatch. They are cut down so that they cause the AC to angle back for good water drainage. They are just high enough, though, to keep the AC off of the lexan.

The first thing I did was epoxy some "feet" on the bottom of the AC. There are "hooks" cut into the feet to sit on the window frame. These are glued down with 5200.
