Flag poles are installed in angled fishing rod holders. The staffs are 48" long, so they are 42" out of the transom.

I found that post hole digger handles were exactly the size of the rod holders. So I removed the finish and refinished them a darker color. I just remove them, put the cover on the holder and store the poles inside the cabin when not underway.
