By the time I got up Saturday, the other 3 boats had already taken off. And for good reason. Exposed to a breeze from the north, and combined with a 4.5 mph current from the same direction, the water was flowing through here like a river. Decided to take my chance on a more protected spot in Eagle Harbor for Saturday.

Eagle Harbor on a hot Saturday in July. All 13 buoys were filled by now, and since it is a voluntary no-anchor area to restore the eel grass, not too many extra boats were anchored, and everyone was well-behaved and quiet. I was lucky to encounter no rowdies or yahoos like you often find this time of year in the San Juans.

Decided to take my chance on a more protected spot in Eagle Harbor for Saturday.
Hopped in the kayak just before noon to check out this inner most buoy in Eagle Harbor at a minus 3 tide. Looked fine for a C-dory, or most any other under-30 boat for that matter.
People sometimes ask me, "Mike, what do you eat for breakfast while boating?". I often respond, "People, I usually prefer some form of processed pork for breakfast"
