Long Island Sound Tidal Flows and Weather Stations
Potential Maximum Wave Height, customized for Long Island Sound, based upon wind velocity, direction and fetch. I no longer rely on the NOAA for predicted wave heights in my area, using them only for wind velocity and direction. I can also assess the Sea State easily based on a methodology from the following link: http://www.wdcs.org/submissions_bin/WDCS_Shorewatch_Seastate.pdf
Betty Ann falls off of 4 foot wave at only 8 mph, then hit calmer head seas of 2 to 2.5 feet, traveling around 10 to 12 mph as we head back home to Niantic Bay
Betty Ann 20 mph near Orient Bay, LI, NY on Sep 18, 2013 Taken by Irish Queen. These were following seas of significant wave height of approximately 1 foot to maximum height of 1.5 feet.
