This barge and tug worked pretty slick. The post on each side of it could be lowered into the water up to 20 feet to push into it and hold the barge in place.

Some say the metal ring and boxed section are the remnants of the crows nest. Another told me that a smaller top section of mast would have been inserted here.

This is the 200 year old mast caught in a fishing net off the tip of Long Point(Lake Erie) in early May 2015. It is 77 feet long - 15 to 20 inches in dia. - solid pine and weighing(waterlogged) between 15 and 20 tons. This is the day it was put back in the water as ordered by the Ontario government.
