I posted a new picture in my album (last one #27) After having problems with water on the aft deck with only a moderate weight in the stern I checked the scuppers. I may be wrong, but, I think I should re-mount the scuppers so they are straight up and down rather than parallel with the transom. When I was about to wash the hull I noticed the dirty water line and how low the boat sat with 2 people and a Honda EU-3000 gen. To me in this position when the ball is raised it goes away from the blocking hole letting water into the boat. What's your opinion? _________________ Chuck

How easy is it to "remount" the scuppers? You have a hole in the cockpit/with a bit of a sump--and a hole in the hull--are you going to change these? We never had any water in the cockpit of our TC 255, until some heavy weights came aboard during the recent rathering--I just let the water come and go and not worry about it. If there were a probelm, there is always "dri deck" or other grating. _________________ Bob Austin

Hi Bob, it would not be a problem re-mounting, just measure the angle and cut a backing plate so the scuppers sit vertical.
I usually go fishing with 2 other guys so I sooner try and resolve the problem rather than building up the deck so the water lays under a mat. In my brain storming I have even investigate the possibility of selling the twin hondas and putting one motor on board with a kicker just to save some weight, if its because my boat is overloaded with a total of 3 people on board |

Hi All
I take a lot of people out in my cd-25 because I do whale watching trips on it. I found when 6 people are all on one side I had water coming in the cockpit drain and people were coming away with wet shoes and wondering if we were sinking. I fixed the problem by buying two kitchen plastic turkey "baster" cutting the end off and inserting the bulb into the drain. It's tapered so it fits nice and snug and I can pull them out whenever I want to. It worked good for me and it is about as KISS as possible

hi Bill,
if I understand you right you insert the baster inside the scupper from the cockpit side as a plug. Is this correct? Also what size eng. are you running? |
