Been looking for good replacement LED Bayonete type bulb to replace my incandescent dome lights and ran across these. The HYPERWHITE puts out 16 Lm, wondering how this compares to the stock dome lights.
All the bayonete lights I’ve seen up to this point have been expensive, technology advances seem to be driving the price down.
Anyone else run across a good replacement dome bulb lately?
Hay, for 4.49 these seem like a bargain.

My guess, is that you may not be happy with the distribution of the light on these replacements. These appear to have a single LED. I have tried several of the "replacement bulbs"--and came to the conclusion that it is better to just go to specifically LED dome lights. The ones I am using are either multiple LED--4 to 8 or super bright single and movable, with focal points which give good illumination for reading.

But for $4.49 why not--just watch out for the shipping....

Also we have put in several of the dual or tripple low draw LED's as night or courtesy lights separate from the dome, but put the switch for these in the side of the dome light, and powered from the same pigtail going to the dome light.

Here what your saying Bob,

The description says 3 Chip Surface Mount LED, this seems to be the latest wave in LED technology. Was thinking with the diffusers on the dome lights they may work, but can’t seem to get through their checkout. Been trying to find the same product elsewhere on the web without and luck.

Going try these out, will take a before and after picture to post for comparison.
There are brighter lights available with twice the lumens but thought I’d start with these first. At 16.95 + 5.00 shipping thought a bargain compared to complete LED domes priced at over 50 bucks.

1156-PCB-W36 White LED lamp
12VDC 1156 Base with 1-1/2 inch square circuit board
With 36 Super White LEDs, 57 lumens
Designed for overhead lighting in boats, campers, box trucks, etc.
With Wide 100 Degree Beam Pattern

Be sure to check out the color temperature of the LEDs as well. Some of them have a very bluish cast, which I find cold and uninviting.

Jay,

That LED looks pretty interesting. I guess you could take some velcro and attach it inside the fixture. The current draw was only 123ma so that is a lot less than what is stock. The only thing I'm not sure about is the dual contact base. I think the sockets are single contact.

Triplej,

I have one of the led lights in your pic. It fits in the original dome light for my 2004 CD22. I use it in the vberth and ti works fine there. It does not have enough light output for in the cabin. It will light a small area but not what I would call a replacement for the original.

Led lights are getting better. I am very satisfied with the anchor light I got from:
www.bebi-electronics.com

I had to adapt the light to my radar arch pole but it is as bright as any I have seen. Even brighter than the $100 model from WM. I don't know about any of their other lights.

We talked about this sometime back, a few mnths, maybe.

I suggested that fluorescents were a very efficient bright alternative if you like lots of light for still negligible battery drain:

Cabin Lighting

LED interior and nav lights

Rope lighting uses, cockpit and cabin
