Marie and I would love to see you and Betty at the "meet in the middle" also. There is also some good cruising on Barkley lake itself. It will probably be a 3 day drive from your home.
That time of the year, we also are on hurricane alert--and the presence of one headed to any place in Florida even 10 days out, makes us nervous. We also have Marie's 60th High School reunion the week after the gathering in Corinth, Mississippi and Lake Pickwick (Tennessee River). _________________ Bob Austin

This event is now on both our calendars. I had Betty hooked as soon as I mentioned all the new trails she could run. Yes, we've been through the locks on the south Florida east/west route numerous times, though I don't recall ever having done one solo. Betty is perfectly fine for me to cruise on my own and I do, but, it's always more fun when she is aboard. Then of course I need a cook. If Betty can't make it I might need to barter with Colby to snag Rosanne off his boat, lol.
As a side note, we have a new mate, Miko, a small breed Australian Shepperd. Supposed to max out at around 38-40 lbs. Luna's attitude ranges from indifference to outright annoyance. Between their needs and Betty's running requirements I probably won't have time to do much cruising... _________________

Good. I'll look forward to seeing you guys. And I hate to bear bad news, but I may be cooking for myself. Rosanne isn't sure yet if she'll be able to make it. Depends on her work schedule. She definitely won't be able to stay with me to cruise the Cumberland the rest of the month, but we're hoping she can at least get time off for the gathering. Colby |

Stoped by Prizers Point Marina yesterday for some fuel for the C-Otter. Great facilities and nice people. Encouraging any brats that are hesitating to sign up! My plans are to launch there about two weeks before and cruise to Nashville and beyond. Come back for the gathering and then return home. Anyone that wants to join us send me a PM. _________________ Tom and Joyce Schulke

We see new with our 22 cruiser, try attending we will. It’s 900 miles for us. F350 with camper and boat so we have options staying on the boat or KOA. Thanks sharing. Best friend keeps his BIG sailboat at this lake. Very informative. I’ve never been there except passing thru driving. 😊🇺🇸 _________________ “PolarBear” ROwens 2005 22 Cruiser |

Just got off the phone with Tiffany at the Marina... reservation in... so ready to get out... We've been on HEATWAVE LOCKDOWN here as are many of us elsewhere... cabin fever is setting in. I am hoping to make the October gathering at the land between the lakes Kentucky/Tennessee.
Was trying to get to the North Channel this summer, but our daughter has been here studying for the Bar Exam next week, so we have been here for support. Talked to the folks at the De Tour State harbor about truck storage and forest fire smoke.
The boat just had its 100hr service plus a few new do dads since last time.
The trailer is finally done... new brakes, bearings and seals and electric over hydraulic actuator and truck sender... so in ready mode.[/img] |

Just made reservations for C-Traveler, Monday Oct 2nd - Friday Oct 6th. Not sure yet if I will launch at Prizer Point, or at Kentucky Lake Dam State Park. I'll be cruising the Cumberland River after the gathering with Mystery Girl and anyone else that would like to tag along. Colby |

Seeking a good “flat” route north from the Gulf (hopefully avoiding mountains and narrow switchbacks).
I was thinking of taking I 55 north passed Memphis & Cairo and then I 57 further north.
Any advice from those who’ve experienced this route would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance |

Prizer Point Marina, on Lake Barkley, is off of I24. Looking at Mapquest, looks like you'd take Hwy 3 out of Memphis, and 69 to I24. I have only come in from the north, coming through Paducah. Colby |

Thanks so much for responding…
Anyone coming from the Gulf Coast or points South who’ve done this route before?
Best

Dale,
I think you are way over thinking about this little trip.
We’ve done I-55 as well as I-65 and both are easy for any C-Dory, and also easy for a 65 foot tractor trailer rig.
Birmingham has six lane areas in mountains that might seem scary, but semis do it every single day and so can you.
It is all easy peasy.
Just Do It!

Thanks folks,
I was imagining the road from Asheville to Cashiers with narrow switchbacks.
We’re actually driving to Manitoulin Island Saturday (sadly sans boat this time) will be checking out possibilities for next summer.
Looking forward to seeing y’all in October along with the brats. Soo glad Lee is not visiting the Gulf. For everyone that it stays in the Atlantic.
Best
