Hi I'm looking for rocket launchers for my 22 Cruiser, Squidward. I saw a photo somewhere of some that matched the curve of the roof, how do I get my paws on those? Or else some that fasten to the hand rails on the roof. Thanks! |

Where in NorCal are you located? I've got a few options for you.
If you want it done in the Bay Area, you can't beat Svendsens in Alameda for a quality job. They make top notch stuff, but they are pricey. I'm taking a wild guess they would be around $1000-1400. I got all of my stainless done there on my first C-Dory, a 19 Angler. Here's a link to pics (click the small photos for full size pics). They did the top rail that holds the rod holders, as well as the rear motor well rail.
However, things are far cheaper up in Washington - I'd suggest getting it done up there if possible. I believe the factory has somebody local they work with, and Steph at Brooks Marine in Anacortes (here's a link) did the arch for my 22, as well as Fred's (Anita Marie.) Mine is lower profile, Fred's is a little taller; if you are planning on mounting your kayak under the arch, Fred's would work better. If you are thinking of mounting it on top, I'd go with a shorter one like mine.
Here's a link to my photo album, here's one for Freds. In my album, there are also a few pics of yet another manufacturer's arch from the Seattle Boat Show on the first page - I believe the outfit was called Tanner, but the factory would know for sure.
Which dealer are you getting your boat through? |

I just added a custom made rocket launcher to my 22' Angler.
I haven't taken any pics yet but I need to.
My advice is to take family that know how to weld fishing for Halibut and Tuna. They will do about anything to fish on a C-Dory for big game fish _________________

Snoopy-C's launcher was a custom fab job that cost $200 at a metal shop. You can see it on the blow-up of the current front page. I took a piece of cardboard and traced the center roof curve on it. I then made 6 circles equally spaced on the tracing. Figured out the angle that the tubes had to be mounted and brought it down to the metal shop. They loved to do the job, and I think it turned out great. They are handy to hang onto in rough seas also. The base of the launcher is a template traced off the roof curve. The tubes are 2 inch stainless, tipped at 60 degrees off the plane of the template. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great replies. Question: I assume there are drain holes at the bottoms of the tubes? And the custom fab was done in stainless steel? And how did you get nice plastic liners for them (or are there no plastic liners?) |

I had mine made at a local welding shop out of aluminum. $100. The tubes need to be tilted a little higher on mine as the rods get in the way while fishing.
My tubes are parallel rather than following the roof line.
You can see it on the cover picture of my album. _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.

Yup, the launchers on Snoopy-C are all stainless. There are 1/16" drain holes in the bottom. The plastic liners are pvc tubing that I had, that. with only one saw herf cut, fit perfectly inside of the stainless tubing. It couldn't have fit nicer if I had ordered it specially done for the tubing. |

The name of the firm is : Carlson Sheet Metal, 3603 E. Broadway, Spokane, WA. 99202: 509-535-4228. Perhaps you can give them a call and explain the job, and see if their price is still in the ball park. When I hear your reply on this forum, we can go from there. You could trace your template you need for the job, or if you want I could try to find my roof template. I could bring it to the sheet metal fabricator if you decide to do it. Probably sending a couple of the pictures of the one they did for me would help. If you need more details, data, measurements, etc. let me know. Ron |

I did find my original template. Also, the tubes are 10 inches long, and 16 gage (.062 in thick), and the plate is 14 gage (.08 in thick). Ron |

Ron, do you think your template would fit the "Tall Top" version? I'd certainly like to get something like that very good looking rocket launcher as well. Especially at or near the price you paid!!! _________________ Mary & Don Anderson

Don't really know about the tall top. Perhaps you could contact C-Dory and ask them if the upper part of the roof section is the same as the standard. The launcher mounts on the raised rear, not on the entire rear, as you can see on the photo in my album. We could even see if there would be a better price for several launchers, if there is enough interest. Ron |
