Really fortunate to find this site.I'm from Montana and I've been dreaming about owning a C-Dory for years. Looking forward to the connections I might make in that direction from all of you.

Ain't it great! I found this site some years ago, after reading on the El and Bill website, and falling in love with the notion of cruising.
There are some really fine folks here that'll help you every step of the way.
I hope I've been here long enough to welcome you to the fold! _________________ Snal~

You have found a great spot and pleased to join in the welcome here.
We spent over 20 years going from the looking to the buying. You have some great lakes in your area that would be perfect for a C-Dory, so don't wait as long as us if you can afford not to. Being neighbors to your south we have passed close by you quite a few times on our way to Alaska and Northern Canada. Always look forward to the drive by Flathead Lake and your area from Missoula to the Canadian Border.

I'm still learning, but the real beauty of this site is just that, learning what these boats can do, from Alaska to Maryland, and every place in between and beyond.
I haven't been here very long, and I'm in an area where boats like this are not very common, but I've had folks that I've never met call me with genuine concern about a family situation that kept us from attending a C dory gathering, met some folks that live 15 miles away that share our passion for C dorys and have become dear friends, had a stranger here send us brand new windshield wipers at no charge, another owner gave us a rooftop AC unit at no charge, countless offers of help when I had those stupid questions...maybe I'm not a newbie after all!
Now I'm not sure that I have the words to welcome new members, it's quite possibly beyond mere words. |

Kavy,
Glad to see some more owners in Montana . We are not to far from you. We are between Kalispell and Libby in the Chain of lakes region. 46 mile from either. When you get your new boat, bring it by,and we will put some fish in it.
Welcome

Welcome aboard! The Brat Map link at the top of the site is really handy for local knowledge questions. C-Dory's are owned from Alaska to Maine! _________________ Captain Matt

I had a stepfather that I really loved....and learned allot from..what a super guy...one of the things he told me was the first day you can retire is your last day at work.... and if you want something, buy it... money is just numbers on a page... dreams are what makes life fun..... Of course when he passed he gave me lots of pages....so when I was 53 I retired...bought the C-Dory and love it.... Don't wait too long.....play while you still can enjoy.

Well said Joel. I retired at 54 due to health issues and taking care of my terminally ill mom. That was 6 years ago and you couldn't melt and pour me back on a job today. My income is about the same as when I was working and the money I spend is on fun things no longer job related. When I was a young boy I had a great Aunt and Uncle who traveled up and down the ICW with the seasons. I thought at the time that was the best life in the world. Today that life is available to me if and when I choose. Don't wait to long to realize a dream life is very short. _________________ marvin |

Welcome Aboard! Yep, lots of fun in a lots of places with these great C-Brat people...and many times, without our boats too!
Like the Seattle gig... Well, for me there just happens to be a boat show going on, and, a factory party. This year, I think I may just hang around the Hawthorne Hotel most of us stay in and enjoy the breakfast room, party rooms, C-Brat room rumble (room to room parties throughout the night...and mornings), and just enjoy our C-Brat friends!
And yes, there are a bunch of C-Dory boats from Alaska to Maine, but some even make their way south too!!
I retired at 45...so hey... maybe these boats taught me to do something in the correct order instead of assbackwards.... Just got home from a visit with a C-Brat in Attica NY and enjoyed the snow last night, leave with another one in less than an hour for a road trip to St. Louis, and I bet by weeks end next week, will be doing something else with another C-Brat or two.
Life is too short for jobs and just one boat...particuarly when we throw in the C-Brat cult as a brotherhood and friendship base.
