It seems the newer 22 cruiser comes with 50 gallon fuel tanks with viewable level window. What year did they start making 22s with 50 gal fuel tanks?

So from 2003? 2004?

Also, is this when they started having the ice box rack at the stern as well?

I have a 2002 with two 25 gallon tanks made of translucent poly. No sight windows on the cover boards; your have to look between the boards at the center of the stern. Also the tanks only hold 25 gal each but I removed one this summer and noticed the manufacture's label on top (not readable when tank is in place) stated 30 gal.; a bit of an exaggeration.

Thanks Marvin.... I was thinking I was crazy..... I just can not get 25 gallons into my tanks....no matter how dry they are..... I think your 23 number is much closer to what they really hold..... I have a 2003 with the new larger tanks.... 46 gal. total.

Marvin is correct. I think the way they calculate it to get to 50 gallons is when adding the portable fuel cannister, which is 6 gallons I believe. Our CD22 is a 2005.

Well that certainly answers the question to why that fish is so darn big...it's all an illusion .......could be that fish is just pan size ..... must be a photo shop image.....

My tanks have 23 gallons engraved on the side of them. Like others I thought they were 25 gallons. I can get 23 gallons in them if I add the last two gallons verrrry slowwwly.

Our Two Lucky Fish had 20 gal tanks and was a 2005. It was either later that model year, or 2006 that went to 25 gal. They also retro fitted quite a few....

Off the top of my head (empty at times!), I seem to remember several C-Brats changing out their old 18 gallon tanks for the new ones. Cost awas about $500-600 for the tanks, new hoses, clamps, cleats, etc. New bracket/cleats had to be added/fabricated for the new tanks, as they were of a different configuration.

There are some threads on tank replacement in the Fuel Systems section of the Forums/Library for the looking! A specific one is I'd Like Bigger Tanks.

Of course, all the fuel lines, including the inlet and vent lines, should be changed out every so many years, say 5-8 years (fuzzy memory here).

The lines all have manufacturing dates on them so you know their age. They get brittle, crack, and leak with time. Even if you don't replace yours, check their age and condition out. Cracks are more likely at bends, especially tight ones (which are a no-no), and where the hoses enter the stainless steel clamps. The clamps should be doubled for safety according to manaufacturers association standards.

Believe it or not, here's enough energy in your gas tanks to raise your boat many miles up into the atmosphere! Please don't join the...

MILE HIGH C-DORY CLUB Smile
