Hi, I'm an experienced skipper but new to tuna and new to far offshore cruising in San Francisco. Wondering if anyone wants to buddy up to chase tuna. Had lots of luck with salmon so far this year but the longfins are beckoning...

Make sure you know what your range is.
My boat, Sea Lion, has a 58 gallon main tank and I carry 14 extra gallons. She is powered by a new 4 stroke Suzuki 90. I have put an estimated 200 miles on and only burned about 54 gallons.
Make sure you know your range and plan your trip accordingly.
Also make sure to carry enough ice to take good care of your fish.
Lots of info is available if you need it. Just ask...

Good luck out there....

thanks for the help and encouragement. Round trip looks like around 70 mi, plus trolling around maybe 20 miles tops, I have twin Honda 50's, twin 20-gal tanks plus 10 extra. I follow the "one thirds" rule (one third out, one third in, one third extra) and I think I'll be OK

Mike,
I have a co-worker that is getting into tuna fishing. He has been looking for someone to go with him but would also probably do a buddy boat run. He does not have a CD but has been noticing them since I am getting one soon. He may have seen your boat if you have been salmon fishing recently.
Anyway if you are interested PM me and I can get you contact info.

First time I went fishing with him I caught my first sturgen.
Steve
