For the last two years, I've been using a four bladed composite prop and have been very happy with the performance. The best thing I like about it, is that it corners better than a three bladed prop. The prop I use for our Honda 90 is called a Comprop and is a 4 x 13.5 x 15.

Jon - you da man!

Picked one of these up, and what a difference! Way smoother - even Dana noticed - and more grunt off the line. A little too choppy today to get a WOT reading, but the RPM's I saw at the lower speeds weren't that much different than the stock Honda 3-blade prop it replaced.

Anyone looking for a great prop for a BF90, I'll go along with Jon - mucho happy with this inexpensive upgrade.

Where do you get the Comprop? I googled comprop and got a site but no info on purchasing, not even dealers.
Thanks,
Steve

Bill, I was real curious how the comprop would perform on Da Nag. It sounds like you're pretty happy with it and for $79 bucks that makes it even better.

Hey Bill, did you hang on to the correct catalog part number I gave you from Bass Pro Shop? If you still have it for the Honda 90, would post it for reference. I don't think Bass Pro Shop got the part numbers corrected in the catalog yet.

Pub,
After running with the comprop from Bass Pro, I can second the comments on smoother running mid-range.

Holy cow! You're right Bill, I did post that information on page 1. Hey, that was back in November so I got a little bit of an excuse.

All I can add to this thread is - stay out of Cook's Cove at Guemes Island! Either that, or carry four extra blades! That is the site of our infamous encounter with a nasty piece of waterlogged wood that broke all four blades off one of our composite props the first time we used them...I am back to the factory issue aluminum props. Of course that same encounter could possibly have fried the Honda's lower unit...but seeing the bare hub with no blades when I raised the engine has sort of put me off these puppies.

Aha, now I see! Thanks, Roger...I see these AIN'T the same puppies as the infamous ProPulse that left us stranded in Cook's Cove...Maybe we DO want these after all...

I have a 3x14x19 on my Johnson 90 on the 22 cruiser. I wasn't testing the prop but on my recent trip I think it turned something over 5000 at WOT. This is with a fully loaded boat for cruising.

I think I would like to try the comprop and am wondering what size to get. If the Honda 90's use a 3x13.5x17 then I think there must be a differance in gearing from the Johnson. To go to a 4 blade would I want to try a 4x14x17?

Thanks,
Steve

I have a comprop on my 70 hp evenrude on my starcraft and just love it. much smoother and Iam able to plane at lower speeds then with my old 3 blade prop. Iam glad to hear that they seem to work on c-dorys and will include it on my list of goodies when we buy ours.
