Fish landing net storage

OK now I've been looking in the photo albums at where everyone might keep the fish landing nets.
Either only a few folks fish or those that do must catch such small fish that a net isn't needed Wink

Where do you keep your net while out in you C-Dory? In the rocket launchers on the radar arch just isn't working out.

I screwed two pieces of PVC pipe on the cabin wall next to the rod holders. The two are mounted so that whent he net is in place it sticks somewhat overboard. there's a pic on page for of the B~C album, #33. works good for us

I used a refugee rod holder from Penn and mounted it on the inside back corner of the transom well. A little greater angle than the transom angle which allowed the net to drip in the water off the back end, rather than on the boat. It worked great and I intend to do a similar mount on the new boat. Sure kept it out of the way until needed.

I know the location depends on both what kind and size of net you need to carry as well as the type of fishing you do, and therefore where you can't have the net because of interference problems, but we're able to store ours set in a PVC pipe section mounted on the bulkhead between the latch hook for the door and the forward cockpit corner on the port side. It's available both when the door is hooked open and when closed. If you need a really big net, you'll have to set it up so that most of the net is above the door, but smaller ones can fit between the latched open door and the bulkhead out of the way of most everything. I've got a Cabelas model with a collapsing handle. It's got a spring-loaded ball that rests in a detent, and when you're not using it, the handle slides down so the whole package is not much bigger than the net portion.

I think the one I have is at this link. I haven't mounted it on the 22 yet, but on the 19, it slid perfectly between the back of the tank supports and the front of the motor well.

Bill, those nets are really nice. I have a similar one to Cabellas , made by Frabill, 23" X 26" or so, with the weighted net. I elected to store my net the way I did because we catch fish so fast there isn't time to slide the handle back and forth to collapse and deploy. Ain't it great!

Hey, are you gonna' put some time on my new boat? We're planning on leaving here next Sunday, give or take a day. Probably take it slow and easy which will mean about 4 days on the road.
