Just wanted to say what a great time we had - enjoyed meeting so many nice folks, and picking up tips about fitting and provisioning our new 22. Really enjoyed Tom's tale of the retirement of Bay Girl, particularly since I'm starting to feel a little creaky in the sea legs myself.
Thanks so much to Anne, Doug, Tom and others who made it happen.
Look forward to seeing other C-Doriers again next year and around the Bay in the mean time.

We had a wonderful time meeting everyone and sharing experiences and knowledge. Saturday's entertainment was absolutely first rate and seeing George and Penny's Alaska expedition illustrated for us what a C-Dory could do.
We really appreciate the solid planning and hard work done by the Committee that made the weekend such a great success.

Thanks to everyone for the hospitality. We learned a lot about what to look for as we search for the right C-Dory for our family. After spending Fri and Sat evenings with you, what fun it was while cruising around in our little Boston Whaler on Sunday to see all the C-Dory folks in the Corsica river, run up the Chester to Chestertown for lunch and sight Lizzie Ann and find two more C-Dory's anchored back in the Corsica as we made our way back home.
Keep your eyes open for us for an older 22 on the east coast. With four teenagers still at home, following Charlie and Sally's lead with an older boat that needs a bit of elbow grease is looking like the right path to us.
Thank you for new friendships and a lot of good advice.

Tom, I can't give you a final boat count because I wasn't checking them in. Doug/Anne, can you tell me which boats that were on my list DIDN'T make it and which ones DID that weren't on the list or at least didn't look like they were coming? I'd like to compile a list of those that were there.
Great trip, again. Good night's sleep last night, in a bed that didn't rock.... Of course we had a and three vying for our attention again, most of the night. But it was good to be back anyway. It's about 100 miles up there, if you don't stop and go 10 miles up the Little Choptank to spend the night on the hook like we did on the way up.... I burned about 50 gallons of gas, which should translate to about 4+ MPG, pretty good for these two 14 year old Honda's
Hope to see some of the more local boats at our pier this summer, hope everyone made it home safely or are still cruising!
BTW, does anyone know if Langford has WiFi?

The weather was hot and the activities cool for the
Third Chesapeake Gathering.
C-Dorys were sprinkled throughout the marina.
Boats and people arrived in different ways
Mike and Terry
Penny and George
The "trolley" shuttled people to Rock Hall for ice cream and other goodies.
The Ranger 25 and two 21s made an appearance.
Penny stands between Anne and Doug after thanking them for all the hard work they put into making the gathering a success.
Liz and John also made a big contribution to the gathering.
Charlie put together the data and made attractive name tags for everyone. He escaped before I got his picture.
The marina let us use their new pavillion for our meals and entertainment.
Terry and his grandson Mike arrived in their Class A motorhome with CLASS A hot dogs and wine.
Tom served on the organizing committee and along with his friend Bob provided the signature entertainment. Here he demonstrates how to play the kazoo.
George showed "Wandering the Inside Passage to Alaska"
For most of us, the fun was over. Some still had the run home to look forward to.
Well, there is next year... _________________ George and Penny

We had a great time! Annie and Justine loved swinging in the hammock.
Annie also really liked the little dancing man. Any CDs of the "Bay"
songs available?
Hope to see ya'll around the bay this summer,
Mike, Bonnie and Annie |

Colleen and I had a great time at Lankford and are looking forward to next year.
The trip home was was great. We pulled into Reedville marina on Sunday afternoon and had lunch at the Crazy Crab. Since it was the only restaurant within walking distance, we also had dinner at the Crazy Crab. Pulled out yesterday morning at 0530 and reached Norfolk at 1130. It took the rest of the day to unload and clean the boat, but that is still time on the boat and I always enjoy that.
Thanks to everyone that helped put on this years events.

What a great weekend for Judie and me. Thanks to all who worked so hard on organizing, preparing, performing and "herding". All your hard work made it all so enjoyable for us. Very nice to be able to put faces, people and boats to the names. We made it home safe and sound in "Passages" after a delightful over night at anchor in St. Leonard's Ck off of the Patuxant R. We're ready to go again. Thanks

Wanderer/George & Penny,
Thanks for the posting of the pixs. I feel as though we were there, in spirit anyway.
I declined to make the trip this year due to retirement on 1 April and not knowing how the $$s would work out. Well,, it seems as though other events worked into our life that made it a wise move.
I had a heart attack, with some damage, on 2 June, returning home 7 June and am now recovering. What the future will be is in God's hands, but I know that my work is not yet done. I pray that Sea Angel will be part of the plan and we will be able to make next year's gathering. Please keep us in your prayers.
A well done to all. _________________ Art ka1rx

Art: Been there, done that. It is hard not to worry about those occurences but you have to try. I have had two and just live by events. Live long enough to see the kids out of college, live long enough to retire, live long enough to take a C-Dory to Alaska. Four years, 16 days to retirement, the rest will come rapidly after that. Good luck. Modern medicine is amazing. |

Hi all,
We were disappointed that the Luna Pearl was not able to make the gathering this year...thought it would've been the first weekend of June and had long-standing plans for this second weekend. Eli could've played the bagpipe this year too. The earlier the better for the date next year. Sounds like it was a great time!
