Didn't hit the lottery but I want to install a nice system with two speakers.

Would be interested to hear/see how other folks arranged the installation in their 22 C- Dory.

Thanks
Ken

While I don't think our album has any pics of them, I installed a couple of Bose 161 speakers at the upper inside corners of the back cabin wall. They are the perfect size and provide great sound. I highly recommend them.

We installed the stereo in the overhead shelf, and the inside speakers
right under. I like the location. They are easy to hear from the helm,
and don't blast out anyone. I also have a pair on PolyPlanar box speakers
in the outside gunnels. See photos in our album. The PolyPlanars fit
right into the CD-22 old style gunnels.

I put then new AudioVox Express XM radio boombox in mine. Sounds great and you have all of choices of XM news, talk and music.

Its kind of an energy hog though. It would burn thru $8 worth of c-cells every 5 hours until I went to radio shack and got a 12 volt adapter that plugs into your receptical. The internal antenna works allows it to work inside the cabin without mounting an external antenna.

And no installation!

We installed ours in the overhead shelf and the speakers in the seat boxes. Everything is easy to get at and at the same time, out of the way. Works great for us. Pics in our "projects" album.

I'm not an audiofile so - FWIW - I thought it wise to use "outdoor" speakers on
a "work style" boat even though they're inside the pilot house. Mine carry an "RCA" moniker but I'm sure they were mfg by some Asian outfit. I mounted one inside over the door and a second in the v berths. Used 3M 5200 at both sites.

I've got a Sony CD/AM/FM marine player powering the speakers mounted under the overhead shelf with a Shakespere AM/FM antenna on the roof.

The set up works great, keeping me up with the Red Soxs whether underway or on the hook.

GO RED SOXS!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
