The Cumberland River gathering was our first opportunity to join a group of c brats and it far exceeded our high expectations. We want to especially thank our special tour guides Patrick and Mike Byrd for treating us like kings, Mom Byrd for graciously allowing us to gather at her beautiful home on the banks of the upper Cumberland and virtually everyone that made the cruise such a pleasure. At the Shady Cove Restaurant, Brenda Byrd surprised us with individual gifts including a hand towel embroidered with the name and date of the Cumberland gathering with the name of each CD - how cool.
The sight of 7 C Dorys winding between the steep bluffs of the Cumberland is something that we will never forget. As our CD 22, C Eagle and our fellow cruisers, Life of Riley, returned to Lone Branch early on Sunday, it seemed as thoough we had the river to ourselves. The calm water and deep reflections revealed the beauty of the Cumberland.
For anyone who has not yet had a chance to join one of these gatherings, we hope that you can do one soon. A truly special experience.

We, too, greatly enjoyed this fantastic C-Dory gathering -- and our very first overnight cruise. Thanks to all of the Upper Cumberland C-Brats for making us feel so welcome and helping us along.
Special thanks to Mike & Pat for the river tour, and Momma Byrd for her hospitality. Along with C-Eagle, we had lunch with her on our way back Sunday (we would have rather been up river with the remaining 5 CDs!)
Looking forward to our next cruise while fondly remembering our last.

Jim and Sandy,
Sorry we missed you early Sunday morning on our departure in time to make our lock thru time at Cordell Hull. We certainly enjoyed meeting you and having dinner at Defeated Creek on Saturday night.
Looking forward to cruising with you again soon. |
