Hello, I'm planning a 3 day cruise up from Martinez to Frank Tracks and surrounding areas. What marinas would you knowledgeable members recommend for berthing/shower/food/entertainment along the way? Thanks.

Hi, right now I can give you one place and that is where we have Pooch now, Villiage West Marina in Stockton. They have a web site, so you can take a look. We also are planning a trip to the Frank Track area possibly in the middle of this week if the weather stays good and we can get away so I might be able to give you more information later on. We are also interested in any information any one might have including the fishing.

Flip,
It's a bit hard to read the color of font you used.

Louis-

I would check out Delta Marina at Rio Vista. I would also check out Brannan Island State Park.

Sincerely,

Jim

Thanks Jim and Flip. I've never been to that area but have been eager to go for some time. I'm praying that the weather will hold up. It seem to have just turned for the better and the forecast looks great for this week.

Don't know what your looking for in entertainment but nothing wrong with entertaining yourself. As for showers Brannan Island State park has new showers and you can cook your food the way you like it.

Have fun and take your mosquito spray.

This is a guide--I believe now out of print--called "Dawdling on the Delta" by Hal Schell. This used to be "the" source of things to do and places to go. I don't know if anything has replaced it--or if there are updated versions available.

Louis,

There are plenty of interesting places to go and see in the delta. Brannon Island is a nice place to tie up to a dock. Take quarters for the showers. There is also many places to anchor or tie to the tules.

I have spent many nights in Washington Cut. This is on the north side of Franks track and connects False River to Franks Track. There are mooring lines on floats (plastic bottles) on the West side of the cut. You have to go up close to the tules to find the floats. Then grab it with a boat hook and tie to the line. Many people use a stern anchor but I usually just let the current push me up against the tules as it changes.

Last time I was there there was a large flock of white pelicans soaring over head. Do watch for the inconsiderate that will come through the cut and roll you with their wake.

Have fun,
Steve

Hey Seabran, that great info. I was planning to check out Brannon Island.

Does anyone know what the wind and water condition is like this time of the year? It would be nice if it's smooth.

Check this site out: http://www.californiadelta.org/deltamarina.htm

I'll be out fishing the Martinez/Fleet area for sturgeon Saturday. If ya' see the green Dory give a holler.

The wind has been pretty nasty lately around the Delta but it has died down the past two days. The temps are supposed to reach 80 this weekend so the wind will probably not be a factor.
