It looks like Orca is on the road heading for Duluth! I hope our Duluth contingent will be out on Rt 2 to cheer them on. You can follow their progress here

OK, help me out here, Marty - following that link, how do I know where Chris is at any given time? I looked at the map, then I clicked the "Go Live" button, I don't see anything that looks like a symbol showing where he is or tracks or anything...How do you know he is headed for Duluth or on Hwy 2? I am probably just stupid and it is obvious, but I sure cannot see it...

Click on "orca" Right now she is headed North East on HWY 28 at 37 MPH. It is a live GPS feed, to the map--when you click it takes you to a detail map, click on the gold square and it gives the speed, and heading etc.

Pat-

I'm getting the same problem.

Had less on Safari until I switched over to Firefox, but still not functional.

Maybe their software is specific to something in Windoze or the PC system.

Maybe the location sender if not transmitting? I am dual booted for Linux and Windoze (sic) and the map viewing works in Linux but much better in Win. No location indicated in either mode. Possibly it is an OS thing.

It still shows the same location as before--I suspect that they have stopped for the night near Wakefield MI, and that the map retains the last transmission of the GPS. Previously in the day it was moving along the highway.

Really neat display and update.

Pat-do what Dr. Bob says. After you click on 'go live' pull the screen to the east (over western Michigan's upper penninsula)until you can see the the little gold 'star'. Put your cursor on the star and you will get the details of location, altitude, and speed. If I can do it, anyone can. This is exciting.

Hmmm...that thought crossed my mind. I will try IE (ugh) under Windoze in Parallels...see if that makes a difference.

OK, it is definitely a Mac / PC thing - I was able to view fine on this Windoze computer. On my MacBook with Firefox under OSX when I click on "Go Live" I do not get a link to "The Orca" or the gold star...I noticed this is using Microsoft Virtual Earth...no doubt a plot of the Evil Empire...also, whenever I tried to run this site on IE under Parallels on the Mac, it caused the virtual PC to reset...all other web sites I have tried in Parallels have worked fine, it must be something about this site.

Thanks, Pat!

I was afraid to even think it might be a problem specific to the Mac World, but wasn't sure if the site was up and running this morning.

Nice to know it's just another part of the Plan For World Domination by the PC (Penal Colony) Clan.

Joe.

Here is a FAQ page.

Does anyone know why I cannot see the ORCA location when 3d is turned on in IE7? The 3d works fine, but no ORCA blip.

Also, I wonder why they went on a detour via Ely, Minnesota.

I cant explain it but I had problems with IE7 and un-installed it and went back to IE6 on a WIN XP Pro box. I have not tried IE7 on a WIN Home notebook. I guess a service pack will appear sometime for IE and Vista.
